The Monk Adventurer
You are a repository for strength, power, and knowledge. The Six Energies flow within you to give you life. Your life is about coming to understand these energies that make you what you are... to learn how to focus them... control them. To learn how to use the strength and power that is you to achieve your short term goals. And you are not alone. Others have sensed the sames things about their own inner selves, and are on the same journey of discovery and mastery as you. In all likelihood, you have joined together with some of these others, and now follow your path to enlightenment along a path that others have helped to blaze before you.
You are a Monk, and while you acknowledge the existence of the deities and their power, you recognize that even their power stems from the manipulation of those Six Energies. The deities may be worthy of reverence, but only because they have mastered aspects of what you wish to master yourself. It is the Energies themselves, not the beings that wield them, that are truly deserving of reverence.
Some orders of monks pay homage to deities because they offer paths to better understanding. Other orders focus on the creatures of nature as examples to follow - examples not polluted by emotional thoughts that plague the Folk of all ancestries. Still others revere an individual among the Folk, living or dead, who has discovered a path and is willing to share it. From the many orders, the many paths, a number of lifestyles have evolved, and a number of fighting styles as well. Your preferred styles will depend on the path are taking.
These impressions change quickly, though, if Folk get the opportunity to see you in combat action. It is there that your discipline, determination, and pure skill will manifest in unforgettable ways.

Roleplaying the Monk
Exploring the World
For you, exploring the wider world is probably not an end unto itself. You explore what surrounds you because you wish to know yourself better, and know your place in that world. You are constantly seeking examples of behavior, and possibly even morality, in the creatures that surround you. You will be able to use your inner strength and skill to overcome obstacles that others may find difficult or impassible. Your focus allows you to move, climb, and dodge in ways that others can only imagine.Dealing with Other Folk
Most of the common Folk won't know quite what to make of you. In all likelihood, you are not interested in material wealth, or fancy clothes and bright gems. And you're not as impressive looking as the burly fighter in shining mail carrying a large sword or axe. Furthermore, your desire to maintain yourself as "purely" as possible may mean that you shun certain practices, or foods, or beverages -- behaviours likely to be confusing at best to the common Folk. These impressions change quickly, though, if Folk get the opportunity to see you in combat action. It is there that your discipline, determination, and pure skill will manifest in unforgettable ways.
