Atke
The atke was a large four limbed flying snake that had draconic wings and two huge spikes that it used to spear prey. The ungainly animal lived in the mountains of the Lozarian Peninsula before they were hunted to extinction during the Pax Lozaria. They were a favorite prey of golden griffons and the knights who rode them. For a time atke spikes, called black ivory, was in vogue for decorating the homes of the wealthy. To this day carved black ivory commands top prices in the market.
I used to doodle those flying snakes in my notebooks as an orcling during school. I was fascinated with how they flew and fought with those big dumb spikes that were as long as they were! I guess they didn't fight very well because now they're extinct!
Atke were flying snakes with draconic wings and two large hunting spikes. They averaged 15 feet long with a wingspan of 20 feet. Their black spikes were almost the length of their bodies, averaging 12 feet long. They weighed 170 lbs, 50 lbs of which were their ungainly spikes.
When in flight the spikes worked perfectly as offensive weapons. But once they were on the ground, the take became easy targets. These animals spent most of their time in the air, only landing to nest and raise a brood before taking to the air again. It was theorized that they were created in a mad wizard's experiment and released into the wild
They lived in the mountains of the Peninsula of Lozar until they were hunted to extinction for their black ivory spikes. Due to their rarity, black ivory decorations are worth 100 times normal ivory.

Author's Notes
Like Sgt. Kill Flayer, I used to draw these in my notebooks when I was a kid. They definitely populated my homebrew D&D world when I was a child, but they disappeared from my world building somewhere along the way. They're dumb and shouldn't exist, but I miss them anywat!
