Manifest Field Defense

The Manifest Field Defense (MFD) is a critical failsafe mechanism designed to protect the Kirinal Concordance Zone from threats that even the Kirinal Defenders cannot repel. When activated, the MFD erects a massive wall of impenetrable force around the 30-mile-wide Kirinal Pit. This measure is a last resort due to its immense cost: it drains a year's worth of Gross Mana Production (GMP) and cannot be deactivated until the next dawn.

In the 180-year history of the Concordance, we've had to close the Mother Frackin' Door six times! It's only happened once in my lifetime! I still have nightmares about that Bad Shatter from when I was a little orcling!

The Manifest Field Defense (MFD) is an arcane technology built into the Orrery of Worlds and the arcane architecture of the Pit Wall itself. Once the field is intiated, it forms an unbreakable barrier that persists until the next dawn, regardless of any circumstances. The barrier forces everything within it, whether friend or foe, to remain in within when the Manifest switches at dawn.

The energy required for the MFD is immense, drawing power from every hex crystal within the Zone. This widespread energy collection is necessary to ensure the field's strength. When the Field has been activated, it has taken a year for the Concordance to replenish the resources they spent.

The Field can only be activated by a ritual enacted by the Navigator of Worlds from Chagroth's Tower, the Surveyor of Worlds from the Pit Wall, and the Zone Minister at the Kirinal Garrison. There have been scores of Bad Shatters since the founding of the Concordance for Survival, but the MFD has only been activated six times.

I love that it's only been activated six times. Gives you a great, manageable plot point for creating history—AND it leaves open a plot hook for a seven time in an upcoming game or story. That said, I certainly don't want to encounter anything that gives Sarge nightmares!

I try to drop worldbuilding nuggets all the time that I can pick up at a later date. I have a friend running games in my world, so other people have started picking up my threads! It's so cool!
