Meda's Eyes
Purpose
While Maru the Creator looks downward onto the mortal plane in the form of the sun, Meda stares ever-vigilantly out into The Void, her eyes becoming all the stars in the sky. When Maru formed the mortal plane and dispatched the Natural Gods down to complete his work in the Great Task, he asked Meda to turn her attention away, if only for a moment, and admire the good he created. While she glanced downwards for a mere second, dozens of nameless, faceless, entities of varying power slipped through. The Obscure Ones
"Attempts were made to penetrate the deepest levels of the cave, but nameless things make perilous noise at those depths." - Henri de Gusmao, Fundamentals of Airship Design(For more information, see The Obscure Ones) Upon entering the mortal plane, these beasts were instantly set upon by the natural gods, who were busy going about their Task. Diving deep beneath the waves, where Nemura cannot reach, and burrowing far below the mountains away from Mistra's winds, they lie dormant. Occasionally, rumors drift about among the mortal peoples, containing enough similarities within their vague myths to form an imagine of what dark powers were let loose upon the world.
Form
"Great beams of light, full of more colors than man must have named, arced through the sky. Tribesmen say its Meda making amends for things that go unnamed." - Marcolo Matei, Wide Blue BeyondIt is said that at the start of the world, the sky was pitch black, with only Maru's celestial form of the sun drifting overhead. Following Meda's glance downwards, she was obliged to keep a few eyes on the mortal plane to attempt to track The Obscure Ones, giving the world the disparate twinkling stars in the sky. Further north, among the territories of the Northern Tribes, swirling beams of ethereal light can occasionally be seen swirling throughout the sky. The tribesmen believe, and all learned men are in agreement, that this must be Meda doing battle with the forces of darkness she allowed to plague men.
