Ideia
The Kingdom of Ideia is a nation in the eastern continent of Xeovis. It is lush and forested throughout much of it, with a temperate climate overall, with the exception of the mountainous regions and far northern and southern regions. It is a monarchy, ruled by Queen Tilda Claymore, whose seat is in Reykholsa, and has only two duchies: Duchy of Tosmar and Duchy of Ines, which is the duchy in which Reykholsa sits. The smallest landmass of the eastern continent, it covers the entire northern portion of the continent, bordered by the sea on three sides and the Lifeless Tips mountain range to the south.
The kingdom has seen many battles throughout the years, and is home to many elves, though other races also live within the nation. Two-hundred years in the past, a rival family wished to usurp the throne, and eliminated every heir to the throne except Tilda, who was just a young elf at the time. The Goddess of Light herself stepped in to protect the young girl, providing her with the blessing of light, even though Tilda had no affinity. This blessing gave her the affinity, and mixed with her affinity to frost magic, she became powerful enough to defend herself. She was never trained to be queen, and spent most of her time reading books and learning. The education she gave herself was very beneficial when she became queen, though she had no practical skills. She surrounded herself with friends, though no family survived.
Troubles within the nation
Unfortunately, her friends took advantage of her position as queen. She gave them money, land, and pardoned them from minor crimes, until eventually, she realized that they were using her, and were not really her friends. This led to her gaining the nickname "Queen of Frost," when she shut her previous friends out of the palace and stopped helping them, and began demanding that their families pay the taxes to the crown as required. She found outsiders to help her, with no interest in the dealings of Ideia politics and land, paying a good wage, but requiring a lot from them. This did her no favors within the country, save for the fact that the country stopped hemmorhaging money and began running more efficiently. When the University returned to Xeovis, she granted them a campus within Reykholsa, and it is one of four major campuses throughout the world, second only to The University at Talyon's Cross. She negotiated free training for herself and her household staff and any household guards who were accepted to The University and showed promise. The Queen herself attended classes for a while, but then requested private tutelage due to propriety. There was an incident within the campus when she was attending between herself and another student and she wished for an impartial adjudication, but it was not given; She was given preferential treatment and the other student was removed from the roster of The University. She felt bad about this, and reached out to the young man with whom she had had the altercation, and he swore to serve her as her seneschal after she apologized for the incident. Torgeir has been her loyal friend and seneschal since, and returned to training after she spoke with the headmaster. He joined her private training and they worked alongside each other. There was a brief time that the two considered romantic involvement, but as Torgeir is human, they both decided that, given his short lifespan compared to hers, it would be best to not go down that road. Neither Tilda nor Torgeir courted anyone else since.Economy
The nation of Ideia is the second-richest nation in the world, only surpassed by the Kingdom of Salem. The country is known for its enchanting skill, with the highest number of enchanters in any country of the world. Alchemical concoctions and herbs is the second-highest export, due to the unique biomes found only within the Kingdom of Ideia. There are a number of fruits and herbs that only grow within small areas of the country, such as the frozen magma mushrooms found near the very northern section of Tosmar. Certain gemstones, like the frozen azure gem, can only be found in the northern side of the Lifeless tips, within Ideia. The gems are incredibly rare and useful, so when they are found, they fetch a significant bounty. However, as with any nation, there are poorer families within the country. Most are farmers whose crops were destroyed for one reason or another, some have failed within the cities, and some have injuries that prevent them from working. The nation does have social programs that can help, but are usually not used due to pride.Remove these ads. Join the Worldbuilders Guild
