Barnacles
Barnacles is a common condition caused by excessive laziness. The disease is caught by a range of seafaring people including eusteans that have colonised the oceans.
Causes
This condition is a common condition, occuring in individuals who are lazy. While laziness is generally subjective, ones who spend most of their day sitting will be affected by barnacles. Barnacles start appearing after a few months of the "laziness" and will last until improvements in one's sitting schedule has been made.
Symptoms
It is obvious when someone has barnacles, as small grey specks will appear. Those with severe barnacles will have small grey lumps, that may grow to be about 3cm in diameter at worst.
Treatment
There is no cure for barnacles. Instead, the affected must avoid the laziness for a while until the barnacles disappear naturally. Unfortunately you can get barnacles again, even if you had them before.
History
Barnacles has affected eusteans for millions of years, even before they were evolving into more intelligent beings. Barnacles became much more common in modern history, starting around the 400s, when eustean life became easier and so people put less effort into things and therefore spent more of their time not doing anything. The disease was rampant in the 1900s, when eusteans developed technologies that would allow them to remain seated at all times and they could hire robots and other things to do every task for them from the comfort of their own home. From a 1945 survey, 87% of eusteans from Ternpel were afflicted with barnacles.Because Ternpel's reputation suffered quite a lot from this survey, many of the laws regarding the robots were changed and so people were more active in their daily lives to encourage healthy living. A survey taken 5 years later, so 1950, stated that 34% of people were affected with barnacles, a shocking decrease. This raised Ternpel's reputation again and gained a lot of popularity.
