Dragonfever
Cause & Symptoms
Dragonfever is caused by an influenza virus that can only be contracted by dragons and terani, yet symptoms only appear in dragons.
The dragon influenza is a common virus found worldwide. While it can affect any dragon species, it is most prevalent in fire dragons.
Symptoms usually last about a week. It is uncommon for this virus to be fatal, but it is more likely in previously ill, young or elderly dragons.
Those dragons that don't breathe fire do not sneeze. Dragons that breathe ice cool down their surroundings, which can actually be nice during summertimes. Symptoms also depend on the age, more serious in younger and older dragons.
Treatment
There is no cure for dragonfever, nor is there a treatment that guarantees the virus will clear. Instead, the best way to treat an infected dragon is to give it a heated waterbath. Symptoms will relax for a day or so after a waterbath.
The best thing to do other than a waterbath is to isolat the dragon for a week or so. Avoid all contact with other dragons at all costs, otherwise the virus will spread. As well, no terani should have contact with the infected dragon as they serve as carriers, unless that is impossible then the terani that needs contact with the dragon should too isolate.
