Fried Blood Frogs
Fried blood frogs are a delicacy in Aar-Aori culture, with a very interesting backstory. The frogs are roasted on a fire spit like smores and are enjoyed at night when the people can tell their horror stories and scare each other. Rich in protein, omega 3, potassium and fatty acids, they are rather healthy and beneficial in a balanced diet.
Historical Origin
Blood frogs started appearing in Sarabar Swamp roughly 300 years ago. They began to terrorise the Aar-Aori villages by getting their tadpoles in people's bloodstreams and drinking their blood until they had no more and died. The Aar-Aori decided to mass kill these monster amphibians by stabbing them with large sticks, poles, javelins, anything they could. At one point someone decided to take a bite out of the frog's leg, and to a surprise it was delicious! He attempted to scrape off the warts on its back where the tadpoles lay and he roasted it, and he told some others about the delicious new food he created. Word got around and quickly many people began hunting the frogs and roasting them for a delicious midnight snack.Spreading
After the Aar-Aori received a cordial visit from a Eustean ruler in the Shimmering Ocean, she was invited to try this delicacy. She greatly approved of the meal and she inquired on how to make it. Taking her recipe back to her kingdom, she ordered her chefs to cook the meal, but instead using a species of deep sea amphibian, since blood frogs didn't exist in her kingdom (thankfully). While not exactly the same, the Aar-Aori appreciated seeing that their main cultural dish was appreciated and replicated in another kingdom, and thus a good relationship between the two kingdoms were formed.Recipe:
- 1 dead blood frog
- An assortment of spices
- Fire Take your dead blood frog, and use a sharp knife to peel off the warts. If done correctly, the warts will not explode and will roll right off.
Sprinkle whatever spices you would like. A common spice is sarg, an earthy spice made from the roots of certain grasses.
Roast over a fire for however long you would prefer. The best thing about blood frogs is that they are edible raw so you don't need to worry about getting a disease from the flesh.

Always that one person who thinks I need to try to eat that dangerous creature :p How do the tadpoles get inside the bloodstream actually?
The adult frog bites a person, numbing it at the same time (mosquito style) and then injects its tadpoles through its body - ew - and through its mouth into the bite, then they make their way into the bloodstreams. Fun fact, if you poke the warts full of eggs they explode!
