Mirical's Door

Mirical's Door is a famous door in Apalian mythology. According to legends, a sacrifice of three people were made every year to a horrific monster on the other side of the door, in order to appease it and stop it from entering our dimension and destroying anything and everything. Despite the monster not actually existing, the door does lead into a different dimension, one that nobody has ever stepped foot in.

Location

Mirical's Door is found atop Mirical Mountain, in the Middle Mountains. Mirical Mountain is one of the most difficult mountains to traverse, so the cilvarthians that built the door also built a flat path to reach it.

At an altitude of 7,384 metres, Mirical's Door is one of the highest artificial constructions on Cilvarth.

Mythology

The first mention of Mirical's Door dates all the way back five thousand years ago, to the Alavan Era, when superstitions were at their highest, driving people to extreme lengths. Mirical's Door is the best example; people were so convinced that there was a horrifying monster out to get them, they forged a magical door out of gold and placed it atop Mirical Mountain, where they would throw in sacrifices to please this monster.

The first descriptions of these sacrifices were much more gruesome, as the sacrifices would have their hearts removed while they were still awake. The hearts were thrown in first, as a "starter" of sorts for the monster, then the bodies were thrown through the door.

The more recent sacrifices, the latest in 1405, have been much less brutal. Later sacrifices just involved tossing three people every year into the door, without any removal of any organs.

Creation & Construction

Artistic depictions of the creation of Mirical's Door show that it was forged inside the Great Seacos Furnace, a forge that was popular many thousands of years ago, but has since been abandoned. The entire 4 metre tall doorframe is made of solid gold, with intricate carvings. The door itself is carved out of the same stone that makes up Mirical Mountain, and every other mountain in the Middle Mountains.

Were any ever thrown in alive? It might be interesting to know if they actually found a viable space on the other side... Creepy! Nicely done.

People were absolutely thrown in alive - some people were still alive after having their hearts taken out, as awful as that might be. I'm hoping to expand on the other side of the door eventually, however it'll be a project I'll probably forget about xD Thank you for all the likes and comments, it was a wonderful thing to wake up to on my birthday :) <3
