Clara Hubbard
Clara Postlethwaite spent her first few years living with her parents in northern Scotland. Orphaned at the age of six, she spent her younger years, until apprenticeship age, with her aunt. At 14, she moved to Trellech to assist her Aunt Lillian in her apothecary shop.
During the Great War, she met Owen Hubbard while she was volunteering at the Temple of Healing. They married during one of his leaves in 1916, and Clara lived with his mother until her death in 1917.
In 1920, Owen was finally demobbed, and Shoemaker's Wife picks up when he returns to Trellech.
