Fire Dice


The book has the ability to train its fire abilities through its reader. The training represents you with Fire Dice.

Training


Test Fight


When in combat, use can you a bonus action to ask the book to watch the combat. You gain a Fire Die improvement each time the book considers the combat a successful fight. You can do this to gain the dice equivalent to your level+2. The indices are:
  • You had a major impact on the combat

  • You didn't lose consciousness

  • You used hot elements to deal damage

  • The combat was harder than the previous successful fight

Each improvement upgrades your die by the following: d4, d6, d8, d10, d12.

Abilities


When you gain an improvement, the book writes training manuals as it opens up to you, allowing you to use these new abilities it presents you with.

First Improvement - d4


Control Flames


You learn the spell Control Flames. You always have it prepared, and it doesn't count against the number of spells you can prepare or learn without the book. You need no components to cast the spell.

Retarget


You catch and control the fire coming your way. As a reaction to a successful attack on you that deals fire damage, you remove a Fire Die of fire damage from yourself, and target it to a creature within sight. If your roll is higher than the total fire damage dealt, add another Fire Die to the damage retargeted.

Second Improvement - d6


Burning Attack


Your attacks become assisted by the book, burning the enemy with fire. Be it a red-hot sword, an arrow flying with an orange trail, or fists burning as they hit the target. As a bonus action, you add a Fire Die of fire damage to all your attacks for a round.

Fire Resistance


You become resistant to fire damage. This means that when you use Retarget, the damage needed for you to remove in order to add a second Fire Die - is halved. You are also immune to hot weather.

Third Improvement - d8


Healing Flame


A green flame shoots from you. As a bonus action, you target a creature within sight (or yourself) to heal. Roll a d20 against DC 6. On a failed throw, you have missed the target. On a successful throw, you heal the creature with a Fire Die. You automatically succeed if you target a creature within 5 ft. (or yourself). You can do this as a number of times equivalent to the number of improvements (starting at three) per long rest.

Fourth Improvement - d10


Fire Field


You light the ground on fire. As an action, you may target a 40 ft. square up to 100 ft. from you that bursts into flames for 2 rounds until it extinguishes. Every creature within the field takes 2 Fire Dice of fire damage when you create the field, and when they start their turn within the field. You can do this as a number of times equivalent to the number of improvements (starting at four) per long rest.

Fifth Improvement - d12


Fire Immunity


You become immune to fire damage. This means that when you use Retarget, automatically throw two Fire Dice.

Greater Burning Attack


All your attacks are Burning Attacks. When you use your bonus action like before, in the following round you use two Fire Dice instead.

Mazînmagisk Attunement


This item needs Mazînmagisk attunement.
