The Cannonball Crustacean Caper

Mod Priority: Must-Go/Meta

Desired Timeslot: Saturday Evening, after V-Day Ritual Climax

NPCs Required: 2+ Adventreer Smuggler Crew (probe players for interest if possible to ensure appropriate threats), 1-3 Crustacea Remnants

Content Type: Heist, Combat/Strategy, Social Interaction

Summary:

A well-meaning band of criminals must intercept a convoy smuggling live-captured crustacea remnants through a back road along the coast. The players can employ violence, con artistry, or larceny to secure the cargo. After acquiring the crustacea remnants, the players face a moral dilemma: release them, sell them to a rich fashion designer for stealth armor, or bring them to a local Red Star cell for a different reward.

Hooks:

Captain Doomthunder receives a cryptic letter from "Your Friend Tom," a member of the Red Star Cell, hinting at the convoy's route and the value of the crustacea remnants to the right buyer. It mentions a rich fashion designer who wishes to use the parts to fashion an advanced set of stealth armor and who has offered to make a set in payment for the live delivery, or offers to take them somewhere safe where they can be acclimated to civilized living (or players could simply release them to the Patomic).   [See Handouts]

Details:

This module will involve planning and executing a heist to intercept a convoy that will be traveling along a nearby road. Players must strategize the best approach to outmaneuver The Adventurers. Post-heist, players engage in negotiations and moral decisions regarding the fate of the crustacea remnants, influencing their standing with various factions.

Rewards:

100 Shells and a suit of experimental armor to be delivered next trade if they take the lucrative option, a fresh relationship possibly worth more than money otherwise.

Body: 40

Armor: 10

Handouts:

Hey Captain,   We haven't met, but I've heard your name around. Let's get right to it.   Got a tip about something big. There's this convoy sneaking along the coast, loaded with some weird cargo - live, feral crustacea remnants. Creepy-crawly they may be, but turns out, they're worth a pretty penny to the right buyer.   Here's the deal - there's this rich fashion designer who's all crazy about using these things to make some high-end stealth armor. They're offering to whip up a set for whoever brings these poor SOBs in alive. The Fence is prepared to make arrangements if you can get the whole carriage back to the L-town parking lot, and will pay you a hefty cash finders fee for the ride (it'll need to be parted out before you'd want to be seen near any of that for a while). Sounds like something you or your friends might be into, and I bet one of the Kingpins in your local walls would salivate at the connection if you wanted to feed it through them.   But that ain't the only play. We at the Cell think we can give these crustacea a better life, teach them to live among us, become proper civilized citizens. I won't pay you a red cent, but it'll show you're the type of interesting to stay pen-pals with. Can't fault a man for making a living however he knows how, though. Or, if you're feeling both kind-hearted and lazy, you could just let 'em loose in the Patomic. It'll probably be fine.   The convoy's route? It's coming right through your neck of the woods, well past dark Saturday night. I can set a watch on the road fork and let you know when they see lights if you're interested. Should give you about 30 minutes to get to the location. Thought you might want to know, in case you're up for a bit of action.   Let me know what you think.   Cheers, Your Friend Tom
