Alfar are tall, by elven standards, with males at averaging about 5 ½ feet tall, and females not any shorter, and with males about 10% heavier than females of a similar height. Their hair is usually blond, with shades from ash to honey, and highlights of red, from strawberry to cherry being not uncommon, though hair of both black, and gold are not unheard of. Alfar eyes are usually green, with amber not that unusual, and purple not unheard of, but whatever color, the irises of their eyes are bespeckled with gold flecks.

The Alfar would have you believe that there are no lower classed Alfar; that, indeed, every Alfar encountered is a nobleman, and since every Alfar is a landed lord or lady, assuming that they are old enough to claim such title and with the knowledge that with that title and a single copper talent, one can buy a cup of graf, then, technically, they aren’t lying about that. In truth, the wealth inequality between the upper 1%, and the lower 99%, is so great that few poor Alfar can afford to leave their farms, and because of their noble titles if they do join the Avalonian Stellar Navy, they begin as officers. So, in all likelihood, any Alfar encountered by the characters is likely to be wealthy, and influential, unless the characters go to the Alfar homelands, but I wouldn’t recommend that.   Every Alfar, whether male, female, or otherwise, is awarded the title of lord or lady (their choice) and given a small plot of land upon which to live, when they come of age. Aside from that, Alfar society feels it owes nothing to the new noble, except a chance to make themselves great. Alfar children are encouraged to leave home very soon after they come of age, though often their parents will give them a hefty head start in the form of a large cash bursary given to them as they leave. Knowing this, smart Alfar children will make arrangements for further schooling, a trade, or military career, before they come of age.
