Human, Augryn

Also known as trolls or giants, these large creature stand between 12 and 15ft tall. Man-eaters, augryn have clashed with humans on many occasions and are still numerous in the far west or in the deep forests of the central continants where they are more commonly knowns as Trolls. These cunning creatures stalk deep forests, or hide beside well travelled routes to ambush unprepared travellers. Their tough swarthy scaly hide and thick bristly shaggy hair gives them excellent camouflage in their preferred habitats and are infamous for to be able to hide in plain sight.   Augryn are known to have mastery over fire over which they cook their food, and they are also known to fashion clubs of wood or bone. Where such giants have taken many humans as their meal, they are likely to have built up a troll horde of coin and weapons, and an augryn is not beyond picking up a human battle axe and using it as a hatchet, or carry a longsword as a human would an dagger. Augryn armed such are dangerous creatures able to wreck armed formations with ease or outpace pursuit only to suddenly ambush those tracking them in an orgy of violence. When Augres gather their warbands can sack villages with ease or even go after small unprepared towns, although such gatherings are rare requiring a leader of human intellect, or dragonlike strength.   Dispite this fierce reputation, there are many augryn that have been civilised, such 'half-augres' or 'goliaths' are common in some places, while in others such a person would draw eyes and be feared for what they are.
