Choose any single object or magical effect. You can also ready a casting of this spell to attempt to dispel instantaneous effects. If you dispel an item it is dispelled for a d4 rounds. Any other dispelled effect is completely negated. To determine if you are successful you need to roll an 11 or higher with the following modifiers:

+1 or -1 for each level higher or lower the dispel magic you are casting is than the effect you are attempting to dispel
+ your casting ability modifier, if you are attempting to counterspell the opposing caster provides a penalty equal to their casting ability modifier
uncommon items are considered 3rd level, rare items are considered 7th level, very rare items are considered 12th level, legendary items are considered 18th level, and artifiacts cannot be dispelled

At higher levels: Provides a bonus as stated above.
