A Beginning

It is here in the place known as Ralouse where I find a new start. Halouse was kind to me but the study was cramped and my ability to learn was hampered by a library that's books have all been read. A nice retirement in Ralouse is to be expected except for all of the religious people around, I get questions on if I would join them for church and warning me of sins I should avoid as if they are laws. While my neighbors may include pushy people I think I will be able to live happily in Ralouse.

A Thought

We have had an understanding that the gods came before all things and that we are all the lesser for it. And yet they fall to fallacy like imperfect beings. Perhaps perfection has not manifested as an entity, perhaps what we think of as perfect or representative of something beyond us is closer to what we are than what it would prefer.

A Church of Fools

I was trying to get research material from the local library today when I was happened upon by two individuals. They claimed that they were interested in the new local wizard (me) who came to town. I expressed that I had to head home and didn't have much time for ideal chatter but I noticed they were a bit too interested in me and what I was borrowing from the library. I noticed one of them had a marking of an eye beneath his shirt collar, something one could use to prove loyalty but also to easily hide from a casual observer.

I do not understand, the Church of the Eye praises a god of truth yet I hear of them censoring books left and right, they claim they want to prevent madness from spreading yet I ask if you censor what people know about a disease how could any of us ever hope to avoid it?

Odd Knowledge

It's fascinating, it appears this library has some of the oldest books in Jourg, I have read small additions that people have added to histories of magic that mention a god of chaos. I have found nothing on this in any other text but clearly, I must continue to look into this, a god of chaos could be a link to the sickness of madness.

Psychosis

Psychosis is the name of this chaos god I have been hearing about, it took me a while to piece it together but I was able to translate an ancient book that was tucked away in the back. Apparently, this god is within Insania and is directly related to why people who go to Insania are driven insane. Why was this information not written down in history books? I suspect the Church of the Eye has something to do with this. Some people in Ralouse have been keeping a close eye on me, lingering gazes and people asking questions about me seem to be common, I'll have to keep an eye out.

The Message

I left Ralouse for some time on a trip to obtain spell components, I wish that had been all that should've been noted here but unfortunately when I arrived back in Ralouse I passed by the ruins of the library. Someone informed me that the librarian knocked over a lantern and accidentally burned the building down and killed himself as a result. While one could say this is a coincidence I would disagree as arriving home I found someone had broken into my house, these thieves seem to have taken some obvious gold I left out, but instead of doing a thorough search of where I would hide treasure they instead seemed to have been focused on my bookshelves, thankfully I took the ancient book with me on my journey. I do not doubt that members of the Church of the Eye not only paid my home an unwelcome visit but the library as well, a  message to not look further into such things. Unfortunately for them, I will be taking a different interpretation of this message, I will not let others dictate what I can and can't know.

A Step Into Darkness

I wish not to elaborate on this too much as it still scars my mind. While working on translating the remains of this book I received a knock at my door. Answering the door revealed two people outside, a man and woman who one at first glance would assume to be a happily married couple with a quiet life. They asked if they could have a look at my sanctum, my home, as they were interested in how a wizard such as I conducted himself. I declined, of course, not wanting to take chances, but oh how they persisted as the woman slipped in and began poking around, the man shoving me inside and closing the door. I imagine the two had something they wanted to say, unfortunately, for them, I wasn't in the mood to listen. The woman pulled her dagger as the man collapsed to the floor, Mind Spike proved to be an effective spell as blood pooled from his nostrils while his brain failed to withstand the mental strain. The woman gave me a decent cut on my left should however Mind Sliver proved to be her doom, as she missed her second swing collapsing like her partner. I am left with two bodies to dispose of and a terrible truth that the Church is upon me, it seeks to silence me now especially with violence since it has been made clear that a threat alone will not suffice.

If you are reading this then you have found my book, I have made an addendum here to explain why the following chapters after seem to be written in gibberish, before you can understand what is written next you must play a game with the god of chaos.
