Timeline Scaling

User Interface (UI) / User Experience (UX) · Timelines · Created by SkyBear
open

The current Timeline feature doesn't offer a way to change the view of scale of time within the timeline. I.e. If you want to have 40k worth of content, there's no way to change the view to make it more reasonable.

As it is now, there's a tool to click to the next event, but no readily apparent way to scale to see the entirety of the timeline as it gets longer/older. To continue the 40k example, there's no way to readily display the Age of Strife, Horus Heresy, and 40k. I could be wrong, but even after having 2 beers I should be able to find it in the UI.

Yes - and maybe have the ability for someone viewing it to scale the whole timeline or just one era, since eras closer to the main plot will almost always have more detail than other eras.

Stuff like intercalary days makes this type of calculation technically difficult, but it would be so useful to have. Dimi mentioned an overhaul of the Time Management system tentatively beginning later in 2025, so if 'zooming out' isn't doable on current timelines, I'm hopeful it will be then.

This seems like a pretty obvious feature to add, yeah. At the very least, you should be able to zoom in and out to see more or less of the timeline without doing it through your browser and making the whole UI tiny.
