Display-Date Calenders Calender

What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?

For those who are making worlds which actively evolve as time moves, there is no feature to allow the date of your world (day, month, & year) to move with time. This can be extremely unsatisfying to those making these kinds of worlds, as if you want to make it look as if your world really is moving with time you would end up taking time constantly just to change the worlds display date, which would not make sense to spend time on.

How does this feature request address the current situation?

I believe that a feature which allows you to enable a function in which your worlds display date moves could be revolutionary to many. I am in no way adept in more advanced coding, and so I have no clue how this would work, but I can see something like this being possible. Some sort of button you can select a calender you've made for the world, although with the addition of how long a day lasts. You could possibly even set some sort of presets for worlds taking place on Earth or something similar to that.

What are other uses for this feature request?

While this may not be used often considering how complicated it likely would be, this can be incredibly useful for those making the worlds I describe under what is unsatisfactory. Something like this can also help to make the calenders even more useful than just for use in timelines - in the current state of calenders, they aren't incredibly useful, and so an addition like this would be very useful to some.   I understand that this suggestion may not be possible, and I very likely have not described what I'm suggesting properly, but I do hope you at least consider this.

This seems a niche use that would be complex to set up. WA would need to add seconds, minutes, and hours as timekeeping methods and a means to convert between in-universe time and real-world time. Considering how difficult it already is to support the variety of calendars people make, I can only imagine how difficult it would be to support any form of timekeeping people might want to do.

I feel like this or something similar has been suggested and declined before. I also think it's a bit complicated. Does it move in real time? One day is one day? What happens if you are busy and can't work on your world? Do you reset back to a previous date? Personally I think it makes more time to adjust the date in the world settings whenever it makes sense and not let the time run automatically. But that's just me.

Interersting idea, though I think as Jupiter Melichinos says that it might be too complex. I've had thoughts around this myself, so I'm interested in the reply.

I wouldn't be shocked if this was too complex to be worthwhile making, but I'd definitely use it if it was implemented!

I think this would be way too much work for not much practicality

Unfortunately, this same sort of suggestion has been made multiple times, and the mods and devs keep declining them, so I don't have much hope for this one.
