Session 7 Report
General Summary
August 7, 8318, evening
The party meets Gundren in the Stonehill Inn to discuss a task he has for them. He shared with them the tale of the lost mines of Phandelver, a mine rich in magical ores and essences, where the link between planes is thin. Gundren informed them that the Rockseeker clan used to own and operate the mines in ancient times, but the location was lost when Phandalin was attacked by orcs five centuries ago.
Gundren revealed that he was aware of two possible locations of a map to the mines. He offered the party a portion of profit if they find the map and help him find and clear out the mines. The first location is the Old Owl Well, which Gundren attempted to explore but was chased away by undead guards. The second possibility was the library in the town of Thundertree; a farming community abandoned thirty years ago after an attempted threshing machine went awry and began spewing ichor.
The party decided on Thundertree and agreed to depart in the morning.
August 8, 8318
The party departs early in the morning, and is met a few miles out of town by the tribe of Goblins and Hobgoblins from Cragmaw Castle. They turn around and follow the group back to Phandalin where they spoke with Harbin Wester and persuaded him to accept the goblinoids into the town, finding them jobs and housing. The Party departed again, traveling for the rest of the day and making camp at the edge of the Neverwinter woods.
August 9, 8318
The party resumed their travels, following along the edge of the treeline. About half way into the day they saw a number of orcs on the horizon. Attempts at contact were met with hostility, as the orcs fired a strange weapon at the group, declaring it a test of some sort. The party withstood the pyretic assault and dispatched the self-proclaimed scientists with extreme prejudice. Between Titus’s knowledge of Evermoor technology, Bree’s knowledge of magitech, and Farah’s deftness of hands, they managed to convert the weapon to run purely on Magic, rather than Ichor.
