Lost Mines of Lochton

More than three hundred years ago out in the Verge of the Wilds, clans of Dwortorm dwarves and arcane gnomes made an agreement known as the Lochton’s Pact, by which they would share a rich mine in a wondrous cavern known as Echo Cave. In addition to its mineral wealth, the mine contained great magical power. Thscholi Mages allied themselves with the dwarves and ghomes to channel and bind that energy into a great forge, called the Forge of Arcana, where magic items could be crafted. East from Ethermoor times were good, and the nearby human town of Stonebury, as well as its sister town Lochton, prospered as well. But then disaster struck when a small sect of the Thscholi Mages, now brimming with corruption, rallied together an army of goblins and Sharp Axe Tribe orcs that swept through the western reaches of the Verge of the Wilds, laying waste to all in their path.
