Session 3 Report
General Summary
On September 22, 7328, the crew of the Mirage, waited on Constellation Alpha as their ship was being repaired. They kept themselves entertained, using the facility’s gym and researching the Mudaros System. Their access to the facility was limited, so they just did their best to kill time. In speaking with Nestor Gorman, Kane Longwitton, smooth-talked him into fueling up the ship as well with the repairs. The next day, on September 23, 7328, the ship was ready late morning. The crew decided to leave immediately, eager to get to work on their new job. They flew directly to Touthas. It was about an eight hour flight, but when they arrived in the city of Godoron, it was approximately 5:00 am, local time, on September 24, 7328. They paid to park the ship for ten days, and checked in at a nearby hotel. It was early in Godoron, but they were eager to get to work, so they split up tasks. Valentina Nightingale stayed at the hotel and used her compad to purchase supplies for the ship, scheduling the delivery for October 1, 7328. Afterwards, she planned to nap for the rest of the morning. Nikos Breton decided to perform some reconnaissance on Ferrous Shipping. Charlotte Gibbons went with him to help. Valentina lent Nikos her binoculars for the task. Emerton Pax and Kane went to a nearby bar to see what they could learn about the city and the local underworld life. However, it was too early in the morning for there to be many locals at the bar. The majority of the clientele that early were travelers, like themselves, who had recently landed in Godoron. So Emerton and Kane decided to return to the hotel to take a nap and hopefully acclimate to the local time zone. They planned to return to the bar around lunchtime. Charlotte and Nikos watched Ferrous Shipping for the whole morning. They watched employees come and go into the main headquarters. In the warehouse area in the back, they saw robotic laborers load cargo onto transport ships while human crewmembers checked manifests on the compads and prepared for flight. A few transport ships were loaded and took off while they watched. During the lunch hour, they noted the large number of employees who left the building for their break. Even activity by the warehouse slowed down some, though the work there never seemed to stop entirely. Emerton and Kane returned to the bar for lunch and talked with locals and visitors. They seemed to have a knack for speaking with people, learning information, and making connections. They learned about Mine Johnson, a local underworld figure whose name came up more than once in conversation. They also heard of a place called the Brass Hook, a bar on the west side rumored for underworld connections. The whole crew met up for lunch after they were each done with their tasks and they shared notes. They later returned to the hotel and waited until evening when they made the trip to the Brass Hook. It was a bar and pool hall. They ate dinner, had drinks, and engaged in some billiards, schmoozing with the locals. Valentina wagered on some of her games, using her telekinetic abilities to help her win some credits. Emerton spoke with the bartender, slipping him ten credits to pass his contact information along to Mine Johnson. When they awoke on September 25, 7328, Emerton came to a sudden realization. He had not dreamt at all, since their awakening from the virtual reality simulation. He brought this up to the others, and they all suddenly realized they had not dreamt at all either, yet they clearly remember dreaming during the “Heart of Embril.” They speculated on this at length, theorizing as to why. Their theories varied wildly. Perhaps they were in the simulation now, and the “Heart of Embril” was actually reality. Perhaps they never awoke from the simulation at all and were still in the prison. When they were done spouting out various possibilities, they decided to purchase a bioscanner to check themselves over. They returned to the Mirage to perform the scans. Kane, with his medical knowledge, operated the scanner. He started with Emerton, waving the scanner over his head. What he found was astounding. Emerton’s brain was mechanical, a complex computerized brain. He scanned the rest of Emerton’s body and found that apart from his brain, every part of him was fully biological. Kane scanned the rest of the crew, including himself, and learned the same thing. Another wave of speculation followed. How could this be? Cyberware was a reality, but a full brain replacement was unheard of. This type of computerized brain was only found in true AIs, like the Red Star Alliance. And they were never interfaced with biological bodies, only synthetic ones. How could this have happened to them? Was it related to the Antiqui artifacts they were smuggling? Were these computerized brains the Antiqui artifacts in question? Where were their biological brains? Were they scanned at Koval Prison? Did the medical staff there know about their computerized brains? After a long discussion, they decided to return to the task at hand, and resolved to seek answers to this new mystery at a later date. Charlotte and Kane returned to Ferrous Shipping and performed reconnaissance in the afternoon, watching into the early evening to see how the routine changed then. The rest of the crew waited at the hotel. But in the evening, they all met up at the Brass Hook again. They ate, drank, and mingled again. During the course of the evening, Emerton received a message from Mine Johnson on his compad. After a brief exchange, they scheduled a meeting for tomorrow night at 9:00 pm in the Brass Hook. Eventually, they left the Brass Hook and all went to Ferrous Shipping for some more reconnaissance. They watched for a couple hours. The office building seemed largely unoccupied, though operations at the warehouse continued. Robotic workers still loaded ships and transports eventually took off for their intended destinations. It was all just at a lesser rate than during the day. When they were satisfied with their work for the evening, they all returned to the hotel for some sleep.
