Session 6 Report
General Summary
The crew of the Mirage began unloading the cargo, while the Mathisi employee left them to complete their work. They started with the pallet carrying the prepared crate containing their gear. Emerton Pax played the supervisory role. Nikos Breton went in with the first load and searched around the cargo bay for a terminal. Unfortunately, there was none to be found. The terminals in the docking bay were too exposed, so they had to find another way. Valentina Nightingale and Kane Longwitton worked on unloading pallets while Charlotte Gibbons remained with the cargo on the ship. They discussed their options discretely through their communications devices. There was another door in the cargo bay, but they were not sure where it led. But with no terminals for Nikos to access, they decided to take the risk. Charlotte and Emerton went into the cargo bay while Valentina and Kane continued to unload. They readied their gear from the crate and prepared to move. Charlotte stood guard within the cargo bay while Nikos and Emerton opened the door and searched for a terminal. The door opened into an intersecting central corridor with several branching paths. There was an elevator across the hallway and another door close by across the intersection. Nikos immediately went to this door and tried it. They entered a robot recharge station with a number of robots within. Nikos closed the door behind them and went to the nearest charging station. He connected his dataslab to it and hacked into the system. He found a basic schematic of the main floor of the station, learning that the research wing was on the lower floor. There was no schematic for that available, however. He then took a moment to completely power down the recharging robots before returning to the cargo bay. Valentina and Kane joined them in the cargo bay, having unloading about half of the pallets. They all geared up and moved across the hallway to the elevator. Valentina used her telekinetic ability to carry the empty crate with them. They took the elevator down to the research wing. It let out into a receptionist area, but the receptionist was a security bot. There were three other security bots on the other side of the room. Valentina set the crate at the elevator’s opening to prevent it from closing behind them. Then she greeted the robot and claimed they were there to deliver something to the scientists. The robot asked for her clearance. Valentina responded by hurling it across the room with telekinesis. The robots lifted their weapons and prepared to fight. The party exchanged gunfire with them, taking only minor injuries before defeating the security bots. Shortly thereafter, the station’s alarm sounded. They wasted little time, continuing to the next door and opening it. It was a large corridor with a door across the hall and another recharging station down the hall. The security bots in this room were already activated and moving towards the intruders. Another firefight ensued and the party hurled a couple of their grenades hoping to end the battle quickly. When the robots were downed, they checked the door across the hall. It was locked, but Nikos hacked in and worked it open. It led to a storage room for the research wing. The crew quickly walked through it, heading to a door on the opposite end. They tried to take note of the labels on any crates they passed and checked the storage cabinets at the end of the room. There were various scientific part and power cells stored here. In the cabinets, they found Antiqui parts. They loaded them all into a crate with some spare parts and power cells as well. Then they set the crate off to one side where they could easily grab it on the way back. Nikos worked through the next door and they proceeded down another wide corridor. A pair of other hallways branched from it, but they continued down the main path to a large set of door. Nikos hacked the door and opened it as well. There were a few scientists and research assistant robots in the room. The crew entered with their guns raised and ordered the scientists to the center of the room, where they tied them up with duct tape. The room was just the beginning of the main project wing. A large hall led further in to the left containing computers, scientific devices, power generators, and a massive ship’s canon, which they presumed was Project Quasar. A number of scientist were at work there as well, accompanied by assistant bots. The party gathered them all together and tied them up also. All the scientists were sat down along a clear stretch of wall while the robots were gathered in the main prep room. Nikos hacked into one of the terminals in the prep room, but could not find the information he was looking for on that system. Further into the lab were other terminals that would prove more useful. He set a pair of line shunts at strategic locations and hacked in to the main system through the terminal controlling the main databanks. He found the information on Project Quasar, connected a portable storage device and began downloading all the data. Charlotte remained guarding the entrance to the main hall. She alerted the party when eventually guards and security bots began coming their way. The crew engaged in another firefight. This one was fought on two fronts and one of the guards and a pair of security bots came at them through one of the other entrances. Charlotte and Valentina fought at the main entrance, while Nikos, Kane, and Emerton fought deeper within the main project wing. Charlotte and Valentina finished off the three by the main entrance, then helped the others. When all the bots were down and only one guard remained, the party told him to surrender. Hunkered down behind cover, he reluctantly did so, realizing he was hopelessly outnumbered. They tied him up and set him down with the scientists. A few minutes later, all the date on Project Quasar was downloaded. Then Nikos worked on the databank computer to erase everything from the Mathisi systems. When he managed to work past all the safeguards, the party gathered together again and started to make their way back, ordering the research bots to follow. As they reached the main corridor, though, they were met with another group of guards and security bots. A pair of grenades wounded them considerably and scattered the remaining guards. The crew shot down the damaged robots and told the guards to surrender. The two that remained continued fighting however, until there was only one of them left standing. Then he fled down a side corridor that led to the side entrance to the main project wing. Emerton intercepted him and aimed his guns at him. The guard surrendered. Then they tied him up with the others. The party returned to the storage room and ordered the robots to carry the crate they had left behind, as well as a pair of other crates. Then they headed to the reception area hoping to catch the elevator back up. As they turned the corner heading towards the elevator, it opened up and out came another security force, weapons raised and ready for a fight.
