Episode 3.07: Chapter 6: Death on Special Delivery Report
General Summary
After the fight against the creatures, Genog Druqod ( Gamesman's champion ) explained that he overheard his kidnappers talking with a man named Almon D'joy. That there are four batches of 'Tau Cetian' creatures ( also called 'hellwalruses' ) being shipped to Chalcedon. One shipment was in orbit when Genog was being kidnapped. At least two more might still be at Fautline level.
He went on to mention that Almon D'joy was worried that some nautolan kid would talk about what he saw aboard the cruise liner. If the kid talked, it might make people look into who sponsored sending the Tau Cetians to Thyferra for study and find it was some guy named 'Vorpadaran'.
Having Genog penned up in Faultline layer puts the Gamesman in a bind. It fouls up deals and matches, opening up the Gamesman to be blackmailed. Such as putting a Jedi in the arena as often as possible. Or smuggling Tau Cetians to Chalcedon using ships already doing a favor for Grakkus the Hutt ... without Grakkus' knowing about it.
The group decides they have no choice but to raid the warehouses.
As the first raid is to start, a mysterious ship arrives to scan Dead Town and its burning hospital. At the same time, a massive explosion erupts on the small island where they left the old hermit, Talow. So'zen - along with the Bonejackers two Shivers - head out in the forest to slip aboard and take command of the ship. They do so, capturing the crew, but possibly at the cost of warning the other Bloodsmiths below. So'zen and the Shivers cautiously head for the second warehouse.
After the first warehouse raid, the conversation turns to trying to understand the motives behind the mysterious Eborrean shadow invasion. How dangerous are they? What are their goals? While the heroes discuss this, the hermit Talow appears! His claim is that he wanted to know how this story would unfold.
Talow's mentoring provided the needed push for the group to talk to Sabine, the mysterious living crystal that Aerena Kolene has kept hidden on her this entire time. They learn that Sabine isn't from this region but from possibly another galaxy.
She was the leader of the Shalent Aw'akeen until the Crathax Aw'akeen caught her and trapped her on Chalcedon without a bio-mechanical body.
Meanwhile, Vanya had been talking and mentoring the sole Bloodsmith Raider captive they recovered from the warehouse. Learning of the Bloodsmith cause, Vanya points out flaws in the philosophy and how many innocents would be harmed. She suggests another way: Broadcast the warning via the Gamesman's help. Tell the galaxy.
Once Sabine spoke to the others, Vanya dragged the raider over to have him face the exiled Shalent Aw'akeen leader. She made him face the Aw'akeen and confront the reality of what the Bloodsmith's are doing: raiding the corpses, the history, of all Aw'akeen to fuel what might be a corrupt cause.
Sabine explains the threat of the Eborreans and how destructive they were in their last invasion 100,000 years ago. Talow's talk of 'looking past fear' encourages her to look past her own. Using the spare parts the Bonejackers scavenged, Sabine draws upon her own abilities to fashion a new bio-mechanical body, nearly exhausting herself in the process.
In the center of the warehouse, the group uncovered the secret behind the mysterious cloning chambers. Spaarti design, they were prepped with samples of some shapeshifting DNA to create six-armed, felinoid creatures to be used as living weapons. All potentially immune to the Eborrean mental abilities thanks to a modified version of the Clone Trooper organic control circuit.
The group decided that - in the end - it was safest to send this data and more to Simon Tam, the brilliant doctor on Procopia. Simon had experience with the 'Hellwalruses' before and had researched their biology. They hoped to enlist Simon's help with that and the mutant creatures the Bloodsmiths planned to create from 'volunteers' from the Mechanis Empire.
