Into the sewers

General Summary

At the Black Dolphin’s Wake the Jackleman mercenary and her companions look like they're about to murder the Barman, Several local toughs jump to his defence and it looks like a full blown barfight is imminent. Hearing this Astra bursts in and summons an Hound Archon who proceeds to attempt to talk the people down.   Hauflin uses a potion of neutralise poison to save the dying mercenary and the bar calms down.   Ragnaros interrogates the bar owner, a old looking orc named Riyad. Riyad claims not to know anything about the poisoning and Ragnaros allows that this is certainly the work of some evil influence. Astra tells him she can detect magic from below and Ragnaros convinces Riyad that he should let them into the taverns cellar.   Astra sends her raven back to Wulfrik telling him what they found and requesting help.   The party proceed into the cellar and detect that there is still magic coming from farther below. After an extensive search they find a hidden hatch in the floor with a rusty ladder leading down into darkness.   Giltris heads down the ladder first checking it for traps. At the bottom she find herself in the town sewers. The rest of the party follow her down.   They continue to follow a powerful sense of evil, when Astra and Giltris succumb to a malignant presence whispering in their minds. Astra dismisses the Archon and attacked the others, as did Giltris.   Ragnaros rushes Astra and atempts to snap her out of it, while Hauflin tangled Giltris up in vines. Eventually Ragnaros succeeds in snapping Astra out of it and Giltris eventually comes to her senses, just in time for the party to be attacked by a swarm of undead rats.   After fighting off the rats the party explore the tunnels some more eventually finding a section of sewer wall that had been knocked in reveal that it had been blocking an ancient tunnel, following the tunnel carefully they come to a thick stone door, Giltris determines that it isn't locked and Ragnaros shoves it open. On the other side is a large stone chamber with disturbing murals on the walls and a large shiny brass bell in the centre that Hauflin immediately wants to ring. The others deciding that would not be a good idea, stop him.   As they creep across the room to the ornate door on the other side the feeling of evil gets stronger. When they get to the other door Hauflin turns himself into a cockroach and slips under the door, finding a red lit temple chamber for some kind of Horror worshipping cult, there are several undead roaming the room as well.   Giltris picks the lock on the door and the party burst in and start fighting the undead, hauflin turns into his unicorn form and Ragnaros attracts the attention of the undead. After much fighting Hauflin decides to shoot a fireball at the clearly Evil statue at the head of the room. The statue starts cracking and darkness oozes from the cracks. Astra fires magic missiles at the statue and it explodes sending a shockwave across the room. A voice calls out their doom before a shadowy shape is pulled back into the ether. With that done the sense of evil pervading the place vanishes and the undead crumble to dust.   The party make their way back up to the surface where Wulfrik and Eforhild have finally arrived.
