Session 026: Empowering the Crown of Hylax, Part 1 Report
General Summary
Midnight Squad took a short break & then went into the site.
They saw Independence in the front room & after conversing with him they explored the rest of the building.
They found some shirren ghosts who attacked & were able to find a zone where a follower of Hylax (or nature) could meditate for 30 min & have the DC's raised by 1 until next rest.
Shopping was done in the market for a new melee weapon for Rivet & Fumbles requested an "updock".
When asked what an updock was, he responded with "no much & you."
Going down the other side had a animated history trap that stalled the squad. Then they faced a worm in the next room.
Finding a chest in the center.
Cinneka came into the structure & introduced herself, she has been in the mindscape for approximately 30 years. She seemed to be trustworthy, though time will tell if that's legitimate.
She told the group that she thinks the crown is as muhc a weapon as a goddess of nature would make, not a tool for lethal force, but more a tool for pacification.
She offered to take the party where they need to go on her barge.
They went to face a trial that sank them into the ground, & all took a temporary sacrifice to empower the Crown of Hylax.
The crown now grants the following ability to Midnight Squad:
1st: When an ally within 60 feet of you attempts a skill check, you can attempt to aid another as a reaction. The bonus you grant increases by 1 for every two champions who sacrificed to gain this power.
After the first sacrifice Midnight Squad could now each do one of the following abilities:
Alter Gravity: For the next minute, as a move action, a PC can change their subjective gravity. The PC can choose to act as though in low, standard, or zero gravity.
Instant Recuperation: As a move action, the PC can regain 4d6 Stamina Points and 4d6 Hit Points.
Recharge Spellcasting: As a move action, the PC can regain the use of a spell slot that is at least 2 levels lower than the highest-level spell slot they have.
Surge of Power: A PC can add 1d6 to the result of a single d20 roll; this takes no action. A PC can use this ability after the original result is declared, changing the outcome of the roll.
Going to the wellspring of memories next they all bathed in the water & sacrificed some of their memories giving the crown the following ability:
2nd: Three times per day, you can cast lesser battlemind link (Starfinder Adventure Path #20: The Last Refuge 45) as a spell-like ability. You can target one additional creature with this ability for every two champions who sacrificed to gain this power.
Setting direction back to the Refuge to rest they were attacked by swarm components & were able to defeat them.
