Session 001: Midnight Squad Report
General Summary
Assigned to the Fifth Battalion & assigned to Camp Cavalier everyone arrived to recieve their post orders from the commander of the camp, Major Jaldamarrak . “I am your new commanding officer, Jaldamarrak, and I was killing Swarm before you were clutching your mother’s tails. I know more about this enemy than every soft-skin general in this system, and I know for a fact we are losing this war. You’ve probably heard that over the last seven days, the Swarm has retreated from three smaller cities to the east of Brinnoa, and the media and the SDF alike are calling this a turning point for the war, but I know better. Those vexers are up to something, and I’m not letting the Fifth Battalion get caught with their spacesuits around their ankles. You’re now part of what I’m calling the Midnight Squad.
Jaldamarrak was one of a few Vesk given the Starstone Medal—one of the Pact Worlds’ highest military decorations—for fighting the Swarm during its attack on the Pact Worlds and the Veskarium. Credible rumors say that he turned down an offer to join the Knights of Golarion after the hostilities ended.
The vesk officer is one of the most stalwart and feared commanders in the SDF. He is over 60 years old and has had a storied career. He has worked for the Veskarium military, the Stewards, and as a private military consultant in the Pact Worlds.
It’s not a matter of if this planet is going to fall, but how many Swarm we can kill before they eat us alive.
Fumbles asking about payment & hearing none swore to steal office supplies when he returned.
Patrolling for a little bit & saw tracks of an endangered predator on their patrol they went to find & capture the creature. Eventually they heard on their comms,"Attention all Suskillon ground forces, this is Spacedock Prime-1. We are under heavy attack! A Swarm armada has entered in low orbit and has begun to—” looking up they saw the telltale signs of starship combat. Midnight Squad decided to proceed.
“—I repeat, all squadrons form upon Inter-Region Highway 12. Brinnoa is being fully evacuated, and we have to defend the civilians while—,”
Eventually coming upon some swarm scouts. They took both of them down, when saw one of Suskillion's space-docks crash into the city of Brinnoa, two of the squad shaken after seeing that. It kicked up a lot of dust & two swarm scouts attacked.
Jaldamarrak ordered them to take positions 30 min off from the highway to prevent civilian collateral damage, & they came up to a place with a crater they saw some more scouts, & took them out.
Jaldamarrak ordered a retreat to Fort Gallant 24 miles away, past the Dethomar River for both civilians & the SDF.
Making their way to Kerozan Bridge they came up to a body in the wilderness. A Brush Stalker came to them & they gave it the mercy of a quick death.
When Midnight Squad got to the bridge they were ambushed by two swarm scouts & were able to take them out.
When they started across the bridge an announcement that the bridge was about to be demolished was heard over their comms, first the maze of abandoned vehicles was navigated, second the correct path through the weakened bridge was determined through engineering & survival, & finally a large transport was blocking the road. Rivet was the only one who used acrobatics to pass the truck everyone else used athletics.
Fort Gallant had Zantos Loachwurt attempting to get people to leave for one of the abandoned cities & they were able to calm things down, meeting with Commander Hadiya Najiri they recieved new orders. Help with defense of a convoy headed to the Sahtor region.
The convoy was attacked by a swarm fighter starship, & left after it's ammo was expended. The driver was disintegrated by acid & Fumbles took his spot driving in the previous driver.
