Session 91: Mirrors & Mildew
General Summary
Those that had fallen in battle would be given plenty of time to rest and recuperate. Chari and Eran took the evening's first watch. Unsettled by rustling in the undergrowth, Chari woke Bart and headed out into the forest to investigate. There she found a bed of dreamers floating amongst the trees, presumably following a nearby ley line. In their brief moment of contact, the monk was struck with the deep sadness of the dreamers--a knowledge that the melodies of the ley lines were Wrong. During second watch Micah attempted to make small talk with Hawthorne Sandalwood. The ranger proved to be a woman of few words. However, when one of the kamadan attempted to return to its nest, the halfling jumped into action to roust the party. Micah took it upon himself to dive into the foray, with middling levels of success. The remainder of the night passed uneventfully, finally allowing the group to get some rest. The party awoke in the late morning and held a breakfast meeting to discuss their next plan of action. After some debate, it was decided that Eran, Olivine, and Dee would stand guard whilst the remainder explored the Caldo Estate. Kesmon offered to stay behind to assist. With duties settled, Hawthorne lost no time locating the entrance to the sunken building. Winding her way through the narrow, root-filled passage, the halfling led the Dragon Punchers through a crumbled wall into a small chamber. After clearing out rubble and roots, Jinn and Micah cautiously stepped into a dark room filled with refuse too recent to be part of the original debris. Their explorations caught the interest of a small smokeshade, which took a shining to Micah, but left Jinn ill at ease. Its presence in the ruin indicated a thinning of the barrier between the Shadowfell and the Prime material. Within another room the group found a journal containing a sketch of Velia, as well as a magic mirror. Chari's curiosity got the better of her, and soon the group found themselves trying to free her and Jinn from the interior of the mirror. Passing through more rooms revealed another member of the Meloran sect, dead and sealed within a hidden chamber, possibly having met their end at the wrong end of that silvery ooze still sluggishly making its way through the halls. The body's presence raised more questions about the Meloran's involvement in recent events. Jinn hesitated to press forward, however, as fungi-infested crickets the size of housecats blocked the way. Chari, seeing Jinn's reticence, decided to kick down a door and find an alternate path. The monk was startled, however, to find herself face-to-face with a strange, froglike creature. Unfortunately, it was the last thing she would see before her vision went dark, blinded by its immense, glowing eyes.Character(s) interacted with
