Session 163: Apiaries & Altruism
General Summary
The travelers spotted the mangled corpse of a strange animal they'd never yet encountered. After a bit more travel, they spotted an entire herd of these creatures, which
Ikki Rheashorra identified as mammoths. The corpse's wounds appeared relatively fresh. The ranger suspected that they were inflicted by a hippogriff. Knowing that hippogriff are a favorite of wyverns, Ikki suggested they attempt to capture one. Bart, however, was unwilling to engage with an entire flock of the migrating beasts.
Not long after, the group spotted a series of wagon ruts leading to a broken wagon. Its horse had, presumably, also fallen prey to the hippogriffs. While poking about the remains the party discovered an unconscious halfling, injured during the scuffle and slowly freezing to death. After tending to his wounds and providing him with a bit of warmth, the man introduced himself as Philo Trumore. He had been transporting lumber and supplies to help upkeep the apiary he and his husband shared.
Ever grateful for his rescue, Philo invited the Dragon Punchers to dinner and a warm bed, insisting it was the least he could do to repay them. The Trumore home lay on the outskirts of Laibrinen, a primarily halfling community on the banks of the Green Sprite River. It was small, but cozy, and a welcome respite from the weeks of camping. Miel and Philo were gracious and attentive hosts; the Dragon Punchers were quickly made to feel at home.
In the morning, after a hearty breakfast and gifts of mead and honey, the Jinn, Chari, and Bart returned to Micah and
Fury's Hellsquad.
