Session 33: A new 'shift' comes...
General Summary
The group gathered back in Fairhaven, after closing a few points:
- Irena: Nina, Astara and Eavaan arranged the setting and temporary holding for Irena, and let her be held in a psychiatry ward until the trial, to be held in a month. It settles that the insanity plea will be pursued, with the hopes that she gets a place in a serene institution of recovery. This is shared over the sending stone - Twig voices his dissatisfaction with Irena and wants her jailed.
- Kivi: Trajan travelled to meet Mystic, who turned out to be quite the religious drill sergeant. It turns out that Kivi has been worked to the bones, picked on to make up for her natural difference and made to believe this is justice. The group is far overzealous, more the other churches of the Silver Flame away. However, talking to Kivi, Trajan made her realize it's not always this way, and that the world has more to offer. Such a life isn't overcome in a moment, but she she shares that she will be rethinking much of it, and thinks it important to keep Trajan in her life.
- Merta: In Owl's perch, Bruhtsky talks to Merta, telling her that there is a group in Fairhaven that could use her help, and that she would benefit from more advance adventuring, but can't do those on her own. He gives her direction by train, and sends her to the HQ.
- Astara's Romances: Her and Ulendil reach an agreement and their relationship is intact, but now opened. He knows about the necromancy, and lists a hardstop for pursuing lichdom, whish Astara voices having no interest in. She finishes the interrogation at castle Brokenblade and learns from Kor that there was talk with the King, Queen and the sibbling Kings: The Skullborn are more of a cult than official anythings. The group even helped by taking out Howaspell (Nina's dad) and stopping Elendra. They are actively trying to find the Hall of the Bereaved. They will however later have to also fight an extradition for Irena from Aerenal, who want any information she has on the location of the underground city.
Smaller downtime activities take place, from shopping, to meeting Trajandome investors, to repairing Many and advancing a language, or reading skill books.
Fairhaven HQ sends a missive to everyone, telling them they have someone they can meet to aid them. They meet Kisha to the main desk of the HQ and are introduced to Merta. The group assesses that potential and suggest a discussion at the local pub, where they first ate when arriving in Fairhaven. Everyone tells Merta who they are, and she in turn does the same. The mission at hand is also presented: the retrieval of machinery in the small town of Vathirond.
A strong debate initiated, covering two points: concerns for recklessness and the need to be more cautious, as the group contemplates mortality and the desire to continue on living; and the potential need for leadership. Twig requests that the group votes in a leader that is never argued with. He nominates himself. Trajan likes the idea of a leader, and nominates Twig or Eavaan. Eavaan thanks the nomination, but counters that a group shouldn't blindly follow a leader in everything, and that debate and plans should be a consensus. Nina chimes in with that same perspective, as does Astara, and both of them bring forth instead, a need for better communication, rather than a defacto militaristic leader. Merta chimes in reminding that no one has soldier experience (not knowing that in a sense, Nina kind of does), and that therefore a militant structure is not likely to function. Trajan and Astara confront (ICly, OOCly both are on friendly tones), with a need for Astara to avoid the continuation of blindly charging in, and himself no longer rushing the front lines. Most seem in agreement, and moves on to Rom-Com talk. Twig, not moving on, leaves to go home.
The group talks about Yvan, their take on him, about Ulendil and how he is doing in his successes, and Astara now having an opened relationship. Nina now has a sending stone for Kitahn to discuss. Eavaan confirms not looking for commitment while Trajan explains Kivi's situation and his take on the Silverflame.
The group then forms a simple plan of action to tie in loose ends, gather supplies and head to Vathirond.
