Session 44: To war! Report
General Summary
The group begins by chasing down Sophia based on Astara's cues. A chase / combat ensues as she is found through the gardens and stopped. Merta, Senra, Nina and Eavaan manage to capture her without fatal wounds, arranging to escort her back to their room. Having much to loose if found regardless, the elf complies and is led to a place to interrogate in privacy. Meanwhile, Trajan spies on the inspired he is following out of the castle to the insdustrial districts of the city. Through warehousing, he spots a symbol on the wall that his mark knocked at. He is able to describe the symbol as an eye, surrounded with feathers over the sending stone. Meanwhile, there is interrogation of the captive, and the group discovers that the Serpentine table knows of the Dreaming Dark, the name of the Inspired's full organization back on the Plane of Dal Quor. It is explained that much is feared in terms of take over on their part, seeing them as puppeteers, taking on crown leaders and the likes, though the extent of their reach remains unknown. Sophia, which is discovered to be properly named: Gwyneth d'Phiarlan, tells that the table had successfully taken down some of their members (but she was unsure which, as she only knows in details of her own assignments). It's about then that it is pointed that talking over the group stone while Astara is captive might be a bad idea. GAME BREAK We pan to Astara who is handed to the crown's Dark Lanterns, then escorted deep below the castle. The first set of interrogation yields nothing, as the elf refuses to speak through answering in either literal ways, unknowns or talks around. Giving up, the Lantern fetches the one leading their branch. It turns to be Kor's son: Lujaad. The very same that is reputed to be a scandal to the royal family, having taken to piracy in the Principalities. Instead, the man is an undercover Dark Lantern, and even his father doesn't know, as he informs Astara and asks her to keep this confidential... or else. He offers an alliance and explains that he too, the Dark Lanterns, have been sniffing out the Inspired, though their knowledge of the breath of the take down is nowhere close to that of the Serpentine table. Also, he would rather not ruffle their feathers, but has had words at the death of his uncle, and the strange behaviors that were noted of his nephew. He also knows it will be a delicate affair, especially after such declaration, to snuff out the prince-now-king. In a gesture of good faith, he frees Astara, giving her all her items back, and she returns to the inn, along with Trajan, also returning, for a debrief and planning session.
