Session 51: Back in Fairhaven Report
General Summary
During this session, the group prepared for the dinner with Astara's family. Astara, wasting some nervous energy went hunting, taking Senra and Merta with her (Merta who was able to use this outing to find some healing herbs). A large Elk with plenty of meat was slayed. Sendings were sent to Gwyneth in a rather clumsy way, securing that only her and both of Astara's parents would be coming, and another confirming that Yvan still lives and will be on his way back in approximately 3 weeks. In addition, Trajan received a letter from the Queen, mentioning a competition at Trajandome at the end of the month for a Battle of Style.
Some shopping for supplies was had, and an attempt to decorate the place was in poor success (as the dome was selected and is still under construction, there was some challenges). A miffed Eavaan stormed home while Trajan tried to cover this up (poorly). Though him and Senra managed a fantastic job of the cooking itself, having a grand spread for the guests! Astara went home to grab plants and sort through her things. Mid decor, the guests arrived to surprise Trajan who messaged the rest to come over.
Sheera and Ronin d'Phiarlan introduced themselves and proved to act not like a stereotyped set of assassins and were oddly friendly. After some small talk and discussion, with Trajan disguised as a red dragonborn, the group broke into a montage of awkward moments and silences until Astara showed up, initially, in cat form. Investigating, she revealed herself by jumping on Gwyneth who recognized her, likely due to other normal cats not usually liking her.
Back in normal form, it was quick to note that Sheera only then truly believed her daughter was alive and broke into tears, moved and happy to see her baby alive. Granted permission to hug Astara, she held her tight and looked her over, and went quickly over the Twig dilemma. Emotions quickly shut down with humor, it was revealed that Astara would need to register her mark, and that this was due to a long ago decree. It was hinted that Aberrant marks would be kill on site, but not necessary as the mark is thought to be extinct, like the Death mark. Then, the group was faced with a choice, as they know of the guild: Make a magic pact that would prevent them from talking of the Serpentine table and reveal their secret to others. The Altar of Geas there, the group had to choose, and was warned that an attack would be needed if those choosing to opt out were found betraying this secrecy. Advantage though, is that the pact would prevent accidental reveals as well, protecting the secrets from Detect thoughts type of situations. The pact lasts until permanent death (meaning a revivified character is still pact-bound).
Everyone but Trajan (and Nina pending), took the pact, which means Trajan had to leave the room while Ronin revealed an additional secret to Astara about his own nature. During this time, Trajan competed against Gwyneth at target dagger throws and on the 3rd thrown, won by a sliver.
The group then broke off, with Astara going to get registered and everyone else going to their business.
