Session 26: The lights and the darkness Report
General Summary
The session starts with a roll of initiative, as the group is now facing a duo of will-o-wisps. They soon discover that non-magical attacks don't have much influence on these, and that their erratic hovering makes them hard to hit. To boot, the little undead orbs have a painful electricity zap that leaves little burns and discomfort to the nervous system. Of the companions, only Tanantala's healing talents proved of use, the others mainly useful to taking up space. Within the group though, Twig's moontouched blade had the most effective approach, and though resisted, Trajan's innate fire (and alchemical fire) helped to keep the orb's light dimming to ease their take down. Astara opened a way and Eavaan provided support to bolster the team's skills. Astara also proved that running through a wisp is a bad idea. They eventually were dispatched, and most damage to the group was mitigated with healing. They couldn't take much break though, as more and more wisps showed up in the wine field., a precursor. They ran to the center square only to find the darkness was upon them! Not feeling ready to fight, already impact by the emotional weight the thing carries around, they ran. Or tried to, but there was an interruption. Jumping from a side street, Sophia came out and shot Yvan with a crossbow bolt. Only then did she note the darkness, stopping dead in her tracks. Twig tried to address her and told the others he'd follow Sophia. Eavaan followed him after downing a potion of mind reading, confirming that the elf was targetting Yvan as a 'mark'. The group split, and all ran. Twig confronts Sophia, who mostly just dismisses him before leaving, but also reveals, unintentionally, a resemblance to Astara. Eavaan catches up and confronts Twig for acting foolish. On the other end, Trajan reassures Kivi and then the groups double down on Yvan, both helping him and interrogating him. Suspicion runs high. The bolt is removed and healed (the wound, not the bolt itself) and questions to motives are added. Eavaan joins in and reconfirms things the group had heard: Yvan mentions not knowing Sophia, but shares his theory that it could be a vendetta against the Inspired, as those joining often change. A scorn lover, unhappy family member perhaps. Then he tries to recruit Astara. Again. Tanantala eventually mentions needing alone time and she and Yvan trudge on ahead of the group, and the trek to Arcanix resumes. END OF GAME
