Session 40: Bortan and Dicky Saxx Report

General Summary

The game begins with Eavaan & Nina visiting the Castle, while Merta (silent for this session due absence) is securing a room for the night in a nearby Inn (The King's Armistice). Within, they wait in line to talk to the counter, the castle's main lobby welcoming to any visitor as a tourist zone, with the castle sporting both a museum wing and an art gallery. The place is busy with curious onlooker, but nothing out of the ordinary, with plenty of space to move and talk. They manage to book a meeting with Prince Bortan, but have to wait.

Killing time, they find Hirfin among the crowd, reporter for the Korrangberg and connection spokesman for the group. They talk and spot that he doesn't know more than what has been in the newspaper, but points out that he's clocked the crowd has a lot of comings and goings from hospital Jorasco's staff (as there is a branch here in Wroat). He offers 100gp for any news worthy of the front page, as they know him and block him access. He will negotiate anything lesser as well. Furthermore, a discussion with Nina about Many results in an offer to her, to be interviewed for the technology column, should she wish to display and detail her creation.

Camera pan to the train, where Astara and Trajan are deep in debate and conversation, both to catch up the dragonborn from the last mission and to talk about Kivi. He confesses his state of confusion, for a lack of better word, and together, draft up a letter for her to respond to. Not a love letter per say, but one to pu hard topics on the table. Once arriving in Wroat, Astara gets off and is able to send the letter, before joining Merta at the Inn.

Back to the castle, the prince waits in his oval office like area, two guards standing outside but inviting them both in for a private discussion. There he invites the two and there is a moment before he recognizes them and places them to graduation night, where they were saved. The room proved protected by anti-magic fields, rendering spells useless to explore or detect. After a word dance, the prince confesses to the death of his father and confirms he is indeed to be crowned... in 3 days time. He speaks of an agenda of his and explains, after pressuring, that he believes he was poisoned by Droamm folk in the area, and invites Eavaan to trickle this to the news, but asks that the death wait until the next day.

As they are about to depart, Eavaan sends a mind message, without a link (meaning he could only reply if he had similar talents of his own) to deceive, and speaks of his allegiance to the nightmare and the need to talk. Rolls are done, and though low, the prince rolls lower, confirming not only to be with Quori, but not the dream kind. A nightmare. A meeting is set for the day after the coronation to talk plans.

Eavaan sends an anonymous tip to the Sharn inquisitor newspaper about Droamm's hand in the King's illness and then him and Nina head back to the Tavern. Some of the information is trickled to the rest of the team, and Merta is debriefed.

Meanwhile, in Sharn, Trajan and Senra begin their Noire film type investigation, arriving to the grand city of towers and finding the Golden Eye office, meeting private eye Dicky Saxx. (once the name is thoroughly laughed at....) They question him about the state of the events and he details the conditions of the bodies (12 and counting) to date... all found desicated, with their throat sliced wide and deep, and a permanent expression of horror etched on their faces. All happened at night, and the only account speak of heared a loud wail in the night at the estimated time of the murders.

The group head to the morgue to see the bodies, and the main results is knowing that the murder weapon is not metal nor surgical, but a bit odd to be just a claw, but likely, something similar. The faces are drained and eyes all left glassy in a horrible ending image.
With this information, the two leave the morgue and contact the others. Astara takes the train and head there, seeing her skills in the necromantic arts might be of use, as theories of monsters, banshees and ghosts come about. The group knows to be careful, split as such, and the day comes to an end.

Quick infos

Trajan's Dream:

As you fall asleep, your consciousness drifts to the Mournlands, as though floating just on the edge of the monstrous clouds, all wailing in silence. The wind blairs at your ears, keeping you as locked in a vacuum.   A voice, faint at first, pierces through the tortured fog-faces: "Trajaaaaaan". Your name echoes in a rough, worn masculine voice. "Trajaaaan". Over and over, you hear your name called within, distressed and… with hints of fear.   You don't get to act, or move forward, as a force, invisible but mighty, and oddly feeling disconnected from anything you've envisioned before, seems to scruff you, and yanks you backwards through unimaginable distances. Blurs of colors and cacophonous sounds swirl your mind, causing nauseating sensations of vertigo and disorientation. Through it all, one sounds becomes audible, even if mingled and faint: waves in the wind.   Suddenly it all stops, and you clumsily grab your footing, as though ethereal in a place that feels as though it shouldn't be. You stand on a grand marble pedestal, ornate with a giant rose point, in a room so grand it is as though you stand in the center of an empty mountain, a behemoth of architecture, with a dome of brass, gold and platinum easily 2 miles wide, with at it's peak, the metals merging into a jagged pattern of stained glass depicting grand cosmologies, and at the zenith, simple glass, onlooking a starry night sky, illuminated by several moons. But what really grabs your attention, is all around you, stand 12 great wyrms. Dragons each so immense, their individual toes are larger than your whole self, all sitting around this marble pedestal, neck stretched upright, staring to the night sky. Each has their eyes wide opened, but rolled back, locked in a trance.   "Help us…"   You wake, jolted but still lying down, perhaps expecting to find your heart beating fast, but instead, it takes a breath or two… to feel it start beating anew.
