Session 39: Meeting in the towers

General Summary

The group gathers in the main common room and talks to each other, introducing Merta and Senra and letting other group members less known to the party (Corantheus) to the group. Once food and drinks were consumed (the alcohol strong in Liquid Magic leading to CON save for those that took part). The group then took part in a game of truth or dare, where Corantheus and Kisha ended up starting a new relationship. Senra passed for a poor liar, but not a thief on a successfully failed dare to steal and Nina made 2gp out of Burnhilde. However, as time went by, the alcohol prooved more than alcohol, and some of our drinkers, Nina asside due to her frequent drinking, ended up poisoned.   GAME BREAK   Wildroots, potions and magic healing later, the poisonned people were quite fine, and the poison in the bottles were identified by Tanantala as rather weak. The group set it aside and continued to talk and play, and in the end, Astara sent a drunk sending to Kor, accusing him of trying to murder the group (all in the room heard this). His reply was bried: "I did no such thing. I can't right now... my brother just died."   Wracked with guilt and the fact that the king of Breland is dead, the group called it a night to absorb the news. Merta was visited by a nightmare of her own that night, and the group gathered to talk over breakfast, after having received the morning paper.  

  Plans were set to investigate. Senra grabbed the job board and found that a job near Wroat coincidended, investigating murders and hauntings on the road, so they would do 2 birds, one stone. Nina, Eavaan and Merta, to avoid Merta taking the train, took the teleportation circle to Wroat, while Senra, Astara and Trajan took the train to Wroat, with Senra planning to go to Sharn, potentially with Trajan. Astara sent a message to the seer Twig had talked to but he turned down the invitation, in the least, confirming his location and state of aliveness.   END GAME

Merta's dream

:
You find yourself in a peaceful landscape, familiar to you. Around are large animals, mixed between cows, sheep and donkeys, grazing under the bright sun. Koji is nearby, trying to unearth a prairie dog, that you see is poking it's head out several feet back, looking to your dog in wait of him giving up.   You hear a strange music behind and find a strange sight: a circus caravan, colorful and bizarre. A man in a purple velvet coat and top hat walks out. "Hear ye, hear ye! Come and witness the novel puppet show for the ages. Come and see, the fates of the land!"   Somehow he attracts your attention, perhaps something that wouldn't happen in life, but in dreams, one doesn't always act as they normally would, only to realize it at waking hours. So you get to your feet, call your pup to heel, which he does, dejected to have missed his hunt, and greet the man. Something about him is so…. average. Like the depiction you'd expect to see in a dictionary or encyclopedia explain what a man is.   The caravan opens double shutters, and begins the show, over cardboard cutouts of a plain, in front of a city of towers, far in the back. Several tiny puppets of anthropormorphic crowns of various colors dance around, bowing politely to each. A bright silver one though, seem to shun the others, and a dark grey crown stands aside.   The lights fade from around you, and you realize the farmlands are no longer there, now standing in a great void, with only the caravan by you, as the music changes and new puppets fall in: 3 hags and a young man. The caravan warps in size, and the puppet master grows, turning into a black silhouette hard to make out in this great void, but outlined only due to the light of the puppet show. He laughs, grimly, a smile etching to his now giant face, like the cheshire cat smile, as you see his hand puppettering the young boy into taking the red crown, and then charges the hags, killing them violently. All the crowns begin to bicker and the caravan fades, leaving only the puppet master's laugh, echoing.   The land reappears in a slow fade, but now… it is ash, and charcoal. Burnt carcasses of animals, farm and wild, lay about everywhere. You see the light of fire, distant in the now burning woods, the air permeatted with smoke….   And you wake with a sharp gasp.
