Episode V: In which the party finds the showers and Flopsy meets his match
General Summary
With Lazuli and Bay Leaf feeling under the weather the rest of the part decided to continue on without them, after doing some shopping, first they needed to sell some loot. Making their way to Tidwoad’s to offload the ruby. Tidway was going to take a 5% margine for changing over the gem, but Eldrin managed to talk him down to 2.5% netting the party 47 gold and 3 silver pieces. Virgil's eyes wandered over the story, thinking of possibilities, though the Shield Guardian standing in the corner might delay any plans he was coming up with. Eldrin wanted an upgrate to his offhand weapon, a short sword was the order of the day. He made his way to The Captain’s Blade, where he met Tyrol Ebberly. The shop was full of every weapon imaginable. He was a little stand offish in the beging but once Eldrin mentioned that he was adventuring and getting into scraps, he was all ears and egally listened to everything Eldrin had to say. Virgil then went to the General Store to see if he could be a healing potion or two, but didn't have the required cash, so left empty handed. The party met in the town square and then decided to head out to the Cairn, for while it was a mild day, all the signs were that a thunder storm was coming, with the northerly winds driving the moist air off the Nyr Dyv accross The Cairn Hills, for the rain to be dumped on Diamond Lake. Returning the Whispering Cairn, the party continue to explore the insect infected area. Pushing deep into the area, they find a set of stairs leading down into a flooded area. Flopsy volunteered to expore as he can hold is breath for a very long time. He started to explore in the darkness, discovering that this used to be a shower room that over the ages had filled with water. He then discovered the ghoul. Flopsy tried to talk to the creature but it wasn't having it. Flopsy was quickly paralysed and the creature then moved on to attack the others. Eldrin and Virgil managed to kill it off then when off in search of the parlysed Flopsy, not before recovering a gold ring with the symbol of The Seekers. Elrin found him first and dragged him back to the surface. Flopsy recoverd and they decided to go back in to explore further. Meanwhile Virgil found some loot (a bag of coins), but had to make his way back to the passage for a fresh breath of air. This time Eldrin and Flopsy encounter a small water elemental creating a whirlpool. Flopsy, once again, tries to talk with it, however due to it being trapped in this small room for millennia it was quite insane and not interested in talking. A short and brutal fight ensued, with Eldrin getting slammed, forcing the air out of his lungs, and he fantaically tried to make it back to safety, but unfortunatley fell uncouncious and started to drown. Virgil arrived just in time to drag Eldrin to safety and adminster first aid (read pour a potion down his throat), leaving Flopsy to deal with the creature on his own. He tried to withdraw from the fight, however the water elemenat was in his element and was able to knock him out, before continueing on to attack the others. Once out of the water, Virgil and Eldrin were able finish it off, but not in time to save flopsy, who when they found time, was slowly starting to dissolve in the water. In the chamber of the water elemental they find another body in red Seeker leather armour, with clear signs of the ghuld having chewed on the corpse. They do find another lantern. A nice red one, therefore completing the set, and magic sword. Virgil and Eldrin take Flopsy back to town and return him to the Cult of the Green Lady at the bone yard. The Cult members thank them for returning their friend and said he would be interned in The Cairn of the Green Lady to honor his service to the Green Lady.
