A little more than a year ago, twenty-year-old Doru and several other villagers stroned Castle Ravenloft in revolt, having benn lured there by a wizard in black robes who came to Barovia from a faraway land. By all accounts, the wizard died by Strahd’s hand, and so too did Doru, who returned to his father as a vampire spawn. Donavich was able to trap his son in a church’s undercroft, where he remains to this day. Doru hasn’t been fed since he was imprisoned, and he cries out to his father at all hours. Assisting him is an orphan and altar boy named Yeska. A brawny lad with a perpetually furrowed brow named Milivoj tends the grounds and digs graves. Father Lucian is the brother of Lydia Petrovna Father Lucian asked the party for aid as he discovered the bones of St Andral had been stolen. Lucian explained the bones strengthened the consecration on the church and without them this would fall leaving him and the church vulnerable to Count Strahd Von Zarovich and his minions.
  • Henrik van der Voort
Henrik van der Voort is the sole coffin maker in Vallaki. He is a lonely and sad old man, who draws ire from the other townsfolk for, as they see it, profiting off of their misery.
  • Ireena Kolyana
Daughter of the Burgermeister of Barovia.
  • Ismark Kolyanovich
Ismark is the son of the Burgermeister of Batavia and brother to Irene.
  • Karl Wachter
Nikolai and Karl Wachter are brothers of noble birth. They are brash drunkards always looking for trouble, though they are smart enough not to pick fights with well-armed strangers. Their mother, Fiona Wachter, is an influential figure in town, but her sons never talk about her.
  • Lars Kjurls
Lars Kjurls is a guardsman in the village of Vallaki. During the Festival of the Blazing Sun, he laughed when the rain prevented Baron Vargas Vallakovich from lighting the bonfires. As a result Vargas ordered Lars to be apprehended and tied to the back of his horse. Vargas then began to ride the horse around the town square, dragging poor Lars behind.
  • Milivoj Groundskeeper at St. Andral's
Milivoj is the grounds keeper and gravedigger at the Church of Saint Andral. He is cared for by Father Lucien Petrovich and lives at the church with Yeska. You know little else about the lad, save that he’s outspoken and has on several occasions decried the Baron. It is likely that only Father’s Lucien’s influence protected him. A sullen and moody teen, you have reason to belief that Milivoj may be responsible – either directly or indirectly – for the theft of the church’s protective relic, the Bones of Saint Andral.
  • Nikolai Wachter
Nikolai and Karl Wachter are brothers of noble birth. They are brash drunkards always looking for trouble, though they are smart enough not to pick fights with well-armed strangers. Their mother, Fiona Wachter, is an influential figure in town, but her sons never talk about her.

  • Urwin Martikov
    Owner of the Bluewater Inn.
  • Vargas Vallakovich
The burgomaster, Baron Vargas Vallakovich (NE male human noble), is a ruthless heel who prides himself on his good breeding and finely honed leadership skills. He stages repeated celebrations to foster happiness, and his “All will be well!” catchphrase has become a sad and tiresome punchline. Baron Vallakovich has convinced himself that if he can make everyone in Vallaki happy, the town will slip free of Strahd’s dark grasp.
  • Willemina Rikalova
Her son, Udo Lukovich, is imprisoned (or worse) by the Burgermeister.
  • Yeska Father Petrovich's Assistant
Yeska is the altar server at the Church of Saint Andral. He assists Father Lucien Petrovich with Mass as well as light clerical work and church upkeep. The Father is in charge of the boy’s education and protection. A small and frightened lad, Yeska has no remaining family and owns nothing but a few meager possessions. His future, if any, is in the Church. He lives alongside the groundskeeper Milivoj, whom he recently confessed as being the only person he told about the Bones of Saint Andral.
Under raging storm clouds, the vampire Count Strahd von Zarovich stands silhouetted against the ancient walls of Castle Ravenloft. Rumbling thunder pounds the castle spires. The wind’s howling increases as he turns his gaze down toward the village of Barovia. A lightning flash rips through the darkness, but Strahd is gone. Only the howling of the wind fills the midnight air. The master of Castle Ravenloft is having guests for dinner—and you are invited.
