Session 68: Rebellion Part 3 Report

General Summary

Morning of the 26th of Clan-Time, the Equniox looms just over two weeks away. As Shan'tie can cast Phantom Steed, she is able to make the journey from the Old Church to Saltmarsh in only a few hours on your illusion owlbear.

Before she leaves, she casts Hallucinatory Terrain on the old church to keep it hidden.

As Phantom Steed is a ritual spell, she makes the distance easily in only 5 hours of time. She also diguises herself with Seeming. When she returns to Saltmarsh and its wooden palisade, she is greeted by guards, who request her to state her buisness. She gives the fake name of Raqua Ravinivich, and states that she is a wizard who lives off in the woods and is here to purchase items from Captain Xendros.

She sees the destruction of the Sea Grove of Obad-Hai and casts Sending to Ferrin, learning he has been imprisoned for resisting the destruction of the grove and is being forced to create food and water.

Melody wants a lot of items. She buys the first one (a Cloak of protection- uncommon) for 200 gp with a good check, and then retainer fees:

  • Cli lyre- Rare in 1 week
  • barrier tattoo - Very rare in 4 weeks
  • boots of elvenkind- uncommon in 3 weeks
  • broom of flying- uncommon in 4 weeks

She and Xendros say goodbye, and Shan'tie wildshapes into a Spider to look around. Neither the druid nor the shield guardian are in Hoolwatch Tower.

The others make a plan: Virion will stay at the church, while Menace and Mystan go to Seaton. Menace has a Cloak of Elvenkind and can Polymorph Mystan. Once Menace gets an audience with Rodrigo and Marcia, unpolymorhping Mystan and having him use Word of Recall to teleport the Sylvennes and the party to the church, where Virion and his brother will be waiting.

Menace and Mystan travel to Seaton, which overland takes 4 days at a slow pace to use stealth.

At the gates, Menace is in their cloak and Mystan is polymorphed into a rat. Before being polymorphed, Mystan casts Enhance Ability on Menace, choosing Eagle's Splender.

At the gates, Menace is halted and is asked for their name and buisness in the city. The name they give is Silversword, and they advertise themself as a bounty hunter. Once again, the guards buy it.

Menace in disguise is met by a familiar butler and fast talks an audience with the masters of the house. Rodrigo is upset to be interrupted, but Marcia greets Silversword politely.

Silversword fast talks them, steps forward, and drops Polymorph. Mystan casts Word of Recall, but Marcia casts Counterspell! Menace then leaps forward and pins Mystan against a wall.

Menace-as-Silversword talks their way out with Mystan in their custody, and then turns down an alleyway to try and escape. This becomes a chase scene due to Marcia's raven familiar.

Marcia got Forcecaged, Mystan Blindness's a guard, and Marcia fails to cast Teleport and Misty Step.

Martial artist servants pop out and throw darts, a few hit menace.

Menace casts Investiture of Flame and lights the Flametongue. Mystan dodges a horse and oppotunity attack.

Menace shoots a pillar of flame into the sky. Mystan runs through a house, gets a nat 20 on stealth, and plans to casts Silence. Rodrigo approaches Menace.
