Morning in Divinterre
Mass in Notre Majeste
Cardinal Couteau hosted mass in Notre Majeste. The big event was to announce who would be the victim to be sent to the Misty Rider, a Venezian curse that plagues the town. For once a week, the headless horseman rides over the Riverguard Bridge and claims a victim before riding back up to mists.
Adamari Milento
Adamari Milento, a Venezian, was accused of witchcraft that caused the blight problem in the Village of Portogne. He wanted to show the Divinters that Venezians are capable of good and can be great additions to the area.
When asking for a show of hands to determine if they are guilty or otherwise, Yohgrï asked aloud for further context on the matter. Couteau simply said that arcane magic, the most malleable and mortal of magic, was used to sprout a forest. Instead, dark blight plants had begun to harm the villagers.
In the end, the Venezian was deemed guilty. Next in line was Ezmerelda D’Avenir, for she was charged for being an accomplice with Adamari.
After the consensus was taken, she was deemed innocent and free to return to the Divinters. Couteau then closed Mass afterwards.
Tastarn?
As the party began stepping out of the cathedral, it seemed Tastarn had begun to make his way and found his brother after all this time. In truth, it was a fake from a changeling bard named Fernando to deliver the tragic news about his unfortunate fate.
The Monster Huntress
After being debriefed about the Reaper who told the party to find her to help with the guardians of the beacons, Ezmerelda wanted an assessment. She wanted to know who she was working with before going for a charge against what dangerous creature could be there. What better way than the blights in Portogne?
Couteau’s Inquiry
Seeing the Forester’s grotesque appearance, the big humanoid was invited to the cathedral. Couteau was curious about the man and wanted to know more. Why was he silent? Why was he the way he was.
The Forester showed his overworked hands. As for his silence, he lowered his scarf and coat collar to reveal that portions of his lips had been “smudged” together. Couteau offered a remedy for this, believing that a curse could have been involved.
With the advisory from the party, the Forester declined.

The Most Interesting Merchant in the World
While heading to the Village, they found Captain Havre helping a merchant who got attacked by the small creatures. Turned out it was no ordinary merchant, but instead the Most Interesting Merchant in the World! Radovan mentioned that he would reward the party with 25 florens if they find a cask likely in the forest around Portogne.
Should the party find the cask of supplies, they are to meet him in Divinterre. That’s where he can be found in the meantime.
Village of Portogne
There are a great deal of trees out here as you head past a sign labeled “Portogne.” It must be the case that orchards are out here considering some fields are rigorously patterned out with the apples and pears that grow on the branches.
A voice hollers out in pain. You can see a cluster of citizens and a few guards watch over one of their own lying on the ground. The poor sod has been pincushioned a fair bit with wood thorns protruding from their arm and shoulder.
“You’re pulling too hard!” He snaps.
“Those need to come out somehow!” One villager replies.
As the party was trying to make sense of what the blights had been up to, there came a great menace. A shambling tree with two humanoids bristling in thorns fused to it came out on the attack. The villagers ran inside for safety as the party went on the attack. The blight tree was felled and what secrets of its origins can only be found deeper within!
