Session 36: Bendil Caravan, Assemble Report
General Summary
30th Misuthar 836PD The newly-formed Empyrean Company break their fast and start breaking camp. Once the company seal has been made by Roderick and GG, Jakuki starts overseeing the packing while a few of the others push ahead to sign off the paperwork and make ready to leave. The sign-off process completes without much fanfare and Roderick leaves the exhausted corporal with the remaining bottles of booze by way of a thank-you. The assembled caravan meets up at Ginger's waystation to the south of Berleben, and they begin to make their way to Zadash. Several hours of travel pass uneventfully until what looks like an armoured wagon approaches; Gwen sounds the alarm and Jakuki and the group near the fore agree to move to one side to let them pass. As Jakuki steers the wagon off the beaten path, his haste has him collide with a large rock and crack and axle, stalling their progress. The other two wagons pull in successfully, and Roderick, GG, and Jakuki get to work lifting the wagon and restoring it while Gwen takes up a position hidden to one side and the mounted Ceonwulf patrols to the other side. knowing that this is likely going to look suspicious to the encroaching group, Theia and AD-2000 step forward to hail them. They're intensely suspicious of the situation, and little of what Theia says to assuage their concerns helps until 2K mentions the composition of their group leaning heavily towards unarmed families with children. They call back to the caravan for some of the group to dismount to frame this point, though the initial appearance of Bella, being a Drow child, has the opposite effect to begin with until Theia soothes the guards by reminding them she's just a child. The company look mollified, and after 15 minutes of heavy work re-seating the wheel, the cart is pulled to one side as promised and the armoured wagon rolls tentatively past without issue. The caravan continues for another dozen miles south until dusk begins to fall, and camp is set up for the night. The night passes peacefully.
