Session 15: Thornbank Report

General Summary

14th Misuthar 836PD (over the span of a week)   A quiet week presents itself to the congregated adventurers. The time is spent on personal endeavours:   Perusing the local bounties, Jakuki and Gwen decide to pursue a trio of petty thieves and bail bouncers, tracking them within the city. After a few days of chasing leads and interrogating informants, mostly street urchins, they home in on a likely location and corner the wanted men. The bounty of 50GP is split between the duo.   Roderick returns to his previous haunt for smithing work, but finds himself despondent at his work. He makes a living for the week but finds no joy in the work.   Ceonwulf travels into the outskirts of the Pearlbow wilderness in order to commune with nature, spending a week fasting, meditating and praying.   Theia spends a day in quiet reflection on recent events at home, before venturing out and gathering herbs and magical plants for use in potions and medicines. She gathers a variety of beneficial herbs and alchemical plants, including discovering some rare "drifting hair" grass in her travels.   Ongar spends his time meandering between a local temple library and the Western Walk, nose permanently in a book.

21st Misuthar, 836PD   A merchant named Thornbank arrives at the Western Walk asking for Jakuki. He smokes an unlit cigar and reveals himself as a brass dragon in human form. Upon mentioning that he needs a reliable group for a quest, he is cautiously invited into the building to discuss terms.   He seeks news on his cousin who has gone missing, a bronze dragon called Ralarzika, also known as Zeke. The young dragon has, or had, a lair within Lebenda Swamp on the southern marches of Silberquel Ridge; word has spread that local factions may have slain the dragon and done away with his treasures. Thornbank wishes to see swift justice brought down upon those responsible, if indeed Ralarzika is injured or slain. Should he be dead, it is the brass dragon's theory that they would have likely missed the heart of his cousin's hoard, wily as he was in hiding his most valuable treasure: A hammer, aspected with lightning like himself, of great power to a worthy wielder. This Hammer of Tempests is the mainstay of the reward offered for the duty in question.   The party negotiate a 50gp per person up-front fee and consult maps to learn that, via Odessloe and then river navigation, such a journey will likely take six days' travel in all to arrive in Berleben on the swamp's and lake's edge. They agree to the dragon's terms and arrange to return with news to him inside Rexxentrum's Shimmer Ward. Preparations are made for departure.
