Session 37: Divine Undertakings and Magic Bullets Report

General Summary

On the fourth day of travelling from Berleben to Zadash, the Company move towards the light of a campfire at an established site to the edge of the road. Approaching, a familiar lone figure sits at the fire over a teapot. Theia's "uncle" Kadmael welcomes them and offers seemingly unlimited tea. They launch into a discussion with him around 2K's nature, as the warforged soon realises that this man is ancient enough to be talking first-hand about the Calamity and indeed the creation of his kind. He notes that these were interesting times, especially when the first warforged soul arrived to be judged in the halls of The Raven Queen. Mortal man had created life, beyond the realms of gods.   When 2K pushes him further regarding his own history, he's politely reminded that everyone is made of stuff that is older than them, and indeed if his recollection only spans the past six months, then perhaps he is simply six months old in any measure that matters.   Theia returns the conversation to musings on whether the Company have been working in good faith for the teachings of Sarenrae, whether the people they've killed deserved to die and if there was any better path that could have been undertaken. Kad reminds the assembled group of the tenets of Sarenrae - of forgiveness, but destroying evil where it cannot be brought to the light. That the ripples of effect that come of removing such evil from the world can only improve it. Kad admits that he has been watching the group progress, and is confident that the path they are on is a just and benevolent one for the world. Turning to Jakuki, he lightly challenges his combative nature, and confirms Kord's teachings - strength is the path to greatness, but greatness is the responsible use of strength.   He also pulls Ceonwulf to one side, exhorting the ties between Sarenrae and Pelor. He informs the dwarf of an artifact of the Dawnfather further south in the Cyrengreen Forest, and suggests he run a detour from Trostenwald to seek it out. With that, Ceon begins to sense a distant keening pull towards this artifact, whatever it may be.   On the fifth night, the day after settling in to rest in Kad's company and with him departed by the time people rise in the morning, the group once more settle into camp with Zadash a few miles' walk away. Roderick begins drawing runes onto paper, scrunching it up and pulling a small blue marble-like effect from the wad. Seemingly content with his designs, he asks 2K to offer his weapon, empties it of bullets, produces another blued pebble and slots it into the barrel of the weapon. 2K takes this into a veil of Silence requested of Theia, and fires his weapon - sans the bullets - at a nearby tree. In complete silence, it blows a notable chunk out of the bark as if a bullet has hit. Confused, he returns to the fire and Roddie, who begins explaining the complex runic enchantment that he has been mulling over. He can infuse his ammo pouch to produce such ammunition consistently, and then etc similar runes into both the chamber and pouch to prevent them from dissipating again. This should consistently allow 2K to fire his weapon without fear of running out of ammo.   A few of the team wander into the outskirts of the city to announce their arrival and camping to the guard, who seem nonplussed about their arrival. The do warn about the possibility of brigands, however, and they're assured that the assembled group were to return to stand guard after gathering some general supplies.   Returning in the morning of the 6th, the team head in the direction of the Marrow Keep in the centre-east of the city. Arriving there, the Company wait outside while Theia and Roderick step in to file the paperwork incorporating the mercenary group. After introductions are made, Theia quietly requests that the incorporation date be set as the 21st Misuthar, as this would greatly benefit a Crownsguard case in Berleben and tie up a misunderstanding in Rexxentrum. When pressed on the matter, Theia stutters and admits that the paperwork would not indeed be found in Rexxentrum, and sergeant moves to sign the paperwork with the 6th, today's date. Roderick name drops his mother, General Bristlecone, noting it would be a personal favour to him and his family if such a request would be followed through. While he blanches at this, the sergeant does sign the date as the 21st, but not without admonishing Theia for attempting to deceive him. They leave with two official copies of the writ and 25g lighter. They move on to their liaison with Thornbank in a nearby tavern a few miles south.   The team arrive at about 11am. The Leaky Tap is a moderate-sized tavern; a dozen clean tables await inside for patrons. They enter and settle into a table, order food, and wait.
