Session 1: Report
General Summary
Tavern - The Lying Bear in Odessloe
Theia Reinhold sits across from
Roderick, exhausted from a day's travel. She and tries and fails to solicit conversation as he returns to his book. Trying to make space in the crowded bar,
Ongar Shimmershel the Tortle is shuffled over to space on the table by the barmaid and makes his awkward introductions. He's lightly injured, scathed by a passing carriage. Two dwarves,
Jakuki Obsidian and
Ceonwulf Firebeard, finish their drinking contest and bundle over to the emptier table. They introduce themselves, sit down, and order drinks for all. Roddy casts Prestidigitation to flavour his beer, intriguing Theia and leading her to try. After a puff of smoke from one failed attempt, the second, intentional attempt worked as expected. Magic! For the first time!
Two more beers arrive for the dwarves, and a surreptitious pale elf is caught gawking at the table. They beckon her over and she steals a chair from another table, causing confusion and uproar behind her. She introduces herself as
Gwen and joins the table. Ongar talks of his old master Telemachus of the
Cerberus Assembly, and his old home in the Obsidian Bastion nearby. Jakuki gently mentions his passing, and the subject makes Ongar uncomfortable. He tries to show his magical ability and casts Message on the barmaid, which unnerves her and requires her to be calmed.
Screams emanate from outside. The dwarves move to the door, Gwen peers outside to see flames from a few buildings down. Ongar steels himself and decides it's safer to stick with the group, soliciting the rest to follow the dwarven duo.
Tumbledowns, Odessloe
Buildings burn, and people cry out to the trapped. Ceonwulf finds an old boarded up well and starts dismantling it. Roderick dives heroically into a burning doorway towards a child trapped beyond, while Gwen pulls burning debris off a lying villager. Jakuki hefts the man out, where they discover a goblin arrow embedded in his leg.
A makeshift triage is set up nearby and water is brought up to begin fighting fires. The able-bodied try to save their homes until Theia notes movement to the south; the goblins are still in the area. The group ready for combat while most of the villagers scramble for cover.
