Session 07: The Gang Goes Hunting

General Summary

The session begins with the party waking up to a heatwave and spending the day preparing to go investigate the map leading to a mausoleum in the City of the Dead. They also recieve some supplies from Emerald Enclave and The Harpers to help in their endeavours.  

At the Mausoleum

• After Gwen picks the lock, the party makes their way inside.
• They notice signs that someone else was here recently such has muddy shoe prints near the door and footprints in the dusty floor leading down the stairs.
• There is also a faint smell of copper in the air...
-After going down the stairs, the party uncovers a murder.
• Two cultists had been slain, with the third barely alive.
• After being healed by Madame H, the surviving cultist Vaelle Lurval then reveals the following.
• The cultits had been tasked with retrieving an intem being delivered here, but two other cultists started attacking them when the package was delivered.
• Her and her boyfriend were new initiates and were doing this to prove their loyalty.
• One of the dead cultists is her boyfriend.
• She wouldn't reveal where the cult was located, only where the two traitors likely fled to with the package; an old windmill in the south ward.
• Gwen shortly kills her after this, as she would not reveal where the temple was and didn't seem to care if she died.

At the Old Windmill

• The party quickly crosses the city and makes it to an ancient, decrepit windmill.
• Inside they find the place is trashed, covered with graffiti and full of squaters.
• Gwen, of course threatens them.
• Maisie is able to bribe one to lead them where the cultists are.
• The squater doesn't let them in but points out which door it is.
• The party works on opening the door, with Gaerreak loosening the hinges so Kerberos could smash the door apart.
• They witness a cultist give an object to a spined devil, who then starts flying away with its friends.
• A fight breaks out resulting in the death of one cultist and one spined devil.
• Everyone but Kerberos stays back to finish off the surviving cultist.

A Rooftop Chase

• In hot pursuit the party chases after the spined devils, leading them north towards the Sea Ward.
• In the process, one of the spinned devils is killed.
• We have proof Garreak keeps up with his cardio.
• Masie wild shapped into a panther.
• Kerberos spooked some birds and got held up even more.
• Eventually, the spined devil ducks into an alleyway...

In the Alleyway

• The spinned devil quickly delivers the stone to a carriage that was waiting there before flying back towards the party.
• Quickly, another fight breaks out.
• Imps and spinned devils are slain. (Kerberos crushed one to death with his bare hands).
• The carriage was incapacitated (thanks to Kerberos ramming the wheel, Gwen shooting a fire arrow and Maisie casting spike growth).
• Eventually the elderly tiefling man dressed like a valet, starts running west and is attempting to leave the alley.

Session ended 18/06/1492 just after 10pm; 18th of Kythorn (The Time of Flowers) 1492 DR, the Year of Three Ships Sailing
