04 Session Report - Into The Ruins

General Summary

Berwin takes them out to the ruins first thing in the morning and after some initial investigation, they tie off a rope and lower themselves down. Almost immediately the party notices that the passageway to the north is covered in thick cotton like spiderwebs and the group consensus is "Nope!"   So they open up the first door to reveal the manor's ancient cistern. Elias is checking it out when he is attacked by several grey slimes. They fall back into the main chamber and while Elias and Enna take some acid damage, the party makes quick work of them. Now that it is safe, Ronnodin takes a quick dip in the cistern and recovers some gems, a vial and a lantern. A little later Enna identifies that the vial and lantern are both magical.   While Ronnodin opens one door, Ryker checks out another and discovers a small storage closet. While there is nothing of interest for him in there he shows it to Keyl who finds several jars uttely fascinating. Ronnodin removes the half broken door to the store room and in front of them they discover an old rotting backpack in a pile of fine gray dust. Keyl investigates and the only thing of interest are some coins that were minted over 200 years ago.   As the party checks out the room, Ronnodin and Tilly notice a small secret door that has been kept open with a piton. Upon opening the door, Keyl is gobsmacked as they reveal an ancient Dhakaani burial chamber that is in incredible condition. The party makes their way inside and is just about to start really looking around when Ryker hears something. Two mummies come shambling around the corner and the battle is on. It is a long, pitched battle with Ronnodin taking the brunt and having mutliple brushes with death, but everyone steps up and contributes. Enna brings her elemental expertise and does the most damag with fire. Ryker does some solid sword hacking after he makes it back into the room after recovering from a bout of fear (this is the second time he has failed a save against fear...hmm...) Elias unleases a torrent of truly brutal insults while Berwin steps up and proves he is no simple fisherman and Tilly provides support in between arrow shots.   In the end, the party is victorious and the pair of undead crumble to dust. As they catch their breath, the first thing Tilly does is investigate Ronnodin closely and then gravely and seriously tells him, "You have been infected and it is not good. We need to get you help and we need to do it as fast as possible."   As the party grasps this dire news, they take stock in the room and decide their next move...
