Session 4 "Romancing the....gnome?" Report

General Summary

Returning to camp dinner is prepared but the smell of fresh game drew the attention of a pair of tigers. Easily evicted or killed from the camp the night was rather peaceful. Two days later and after a rather uneventual journey the party camps at a stream bed which they are delighted to find. Fresh water is taken and baths are had. Maiwinia who didn't seem to take to Isaac very well left him a bit of a present on Rockwell which caused Isaac to panic. Slinger needing solitude and quiet that night slipped down to the stream and found a quiet place to sleep. When Lilyanna discovers him missing she alerts Gunther to watch the camp as she goes and looks. Changing into a giant hyena when she is well enough away she has little luck finding him. As day breaks Maiwinia notices a panicked Lilyanna and wakes Slinger. Lilyanna is relieved to find the young halfling and the pair return to camp to run into the rest of the party out looking for them. After a tense confrontation of Slinger's indescretion of slipping away Lilyanna makes him promise to tell her if he is sleeping away from them. Packing up camp the party returns to their hunt. After several more days the party notices smoke over the rolling hills they are now in. Moving a bit more cautiously and as they crest a rise they notice a wilderness fort along their pathway and the source of the smoke. It's at this time that the party notices the gates open and a pouring of worg riders comes towards them. The party readies their defenses as the riders come on hard. Rowan notices a symbol on their shields and through recollection recognizes as the leaf of Silvanus. The party remains alert but not aggressive as they now see they are also flanked bringing the total riders to 15. The lead rider breaks ranks with the rest forming a spear head behind him and he charges forth. Lilyanna steps forward as the lead rider skids before her with his and the rest of the riders spears leveled at the party. The riders never notice Slinger who has been hiding in the tall grass the whole time as the leader demands to know the parties business and makes it known they are to be taken either peacefully or through force to the fort. After discovering the leader as one Captain Conri the party notices this is a mixed force of races from human, elves, and orc. The party is bound at the hands, except Isaac who is trussed and gagged like something caught on a hunt. The party is brought before the gates and introduced to the advisors of the village fort leader. One an orc female and the other a human male, escort along with the militia to the leader's long house. There the party meets Gashak, a male half-orc of immense size. He questions the party and makes it known that he will allow them to continue their mission as long as proof of the deed is returned. If the party returns without proof they will be taken and put to death to make an example. The party is given directions to the local inn as Lilyanna goes and finds the Captain Conri. She explains to him that a member of their party is still out in the hills and asks for aid recovering him. Conri sends one of his guards with Lilyanna to get Slinger which after a short while he steps out. Unwilling to mount the worg with Lilyanna, she turns into a dire wolf before Slinger's eyes and offers herself as a mount. The pair returns to the village with the guard just as the sun sets. Lilyanna and Sling catch up with the rest at the party at the Blue Mane, the inn they were directed to by Gashak. After finding the owner, who is a rather abrasive Halfling, the party secures meals and lodging for the night. Shortly after their meal Lilyanna is summoned by the female orc and taken from the inn for a chat. Slinger stealthly follows as Lilyanna is led to a small cottage. Taken in the orc speaks with Lilyanna in the tongue of the druids much to Lilyanna's surprise. She introduces herself as Unhf and that she has alerted Lilyanna's mother that she is safe. It's during this time that Lilyanna has discovered a bit more of what her task is and also finds out that Gashak is Unhf's son. Slinger silently enters the house and Unhf noticing him finishes the conversation as she excuses the pair she kneels close to Slinger and tasks him with watching out for Lilyanna's safety. Returning to the inn, they discover that Isaac has been teaching Gunther how to gamble who is elated at his winnings and shows them to Lilyanna. They also find that Rowan has gone off in search of some carnal adventure. The next morning the party wakes and prepares for breakfast to find 50 copies of Rockwell scattered throughout the inn. Noone speaks of it and consumes their breakfast and prepares to continue their journey. Resupplying what they think they may need for the journey to the outpost in the swamps that Unhf had enlightened Lilyanna to, the party prepares to depart. Gunther shows interest in checking out the local blacksmith for potential upgrades to his weaponry. Much to his delight he discovers that not only do they have a beautiful weapon that interests him but the blacksmith is a striking Brass Dragonborn by the name of Sila. Isaac taking the time to examine the maul discovers it has magic properties. Gunther, with a little help from Lilyanna, awkwardly asks Sila for dinner when they return.

The party arrives in Faribyr and after meeting Gashak and his council prepares to journey into the Barrow Fens hot on the trail of the kidnappers.  The party agrees to return with proof of their hunt or face Gashak's wrath.
