Session 26 "Midnight Assassination" Report
General Summary
....as the months draw closer to spring the Raven's Alliance soon discover that the wreckage of Tavia may not be a coincidence. Gashak, the new governor of the Western Marches begins to receive reports that more villages to the north have been burned to the ground and the path of destruction seems to be getting closer to home. Relying on the Raven's Alliance they agree to investigate heading towards Paburh and Variskali. Over the last month Delilah has gone silent which eases some of Gunthar's troubles. However he has discovered as the children grow each day that he has a very spirited daughter who is fond of smashing things to include her twin brother. With reassurance from his wife he sets himself to head out for the safety of the Western Marches. The party leaves the following morning with goodbyes to friends and families alike. Isaac leaves the black stone in the safe keeping of Salisoria before heading out. Over the next couple of days the party gets more acquainted with Sordrin and Ethanclaw and they learn a bit more about their new homeland. One night while they set camp, about a day away from their first stop in Paburh and while Isaac and Sordrin are on watch, they are both struck by darts from out of nowhere. Isaac collapses under the influence of the venom coating it while Sordrin familiar with similar poison shrugs it off. Before she can rush to the tieflings aid, the night is ripped asunder by hidden assailants who strike from the shadows fiercely. Sordrin soon hard pressed falls beneath the blade of what appears to be the leader of their ambushers. Gunther with the aid of his new pike awakens quickly with the rest of the party unaffected by the poison. The party is blinded by globes of darkness as the enemy press the advantage. With Sordrin down the leader begins searching Isaac for something. Unsatisfied with what he finds he takes Breath of Tahana from the still sleeping tiefling and calls retreat to his men. The Alliance try to give chase to no avail as they disappear into the darkness. Slinger sends Cornelius, his familiar, to try to get eyes on the enemy finding cold trails however there are marks that a large creature is also with them. Searching her memory Lillyanna soon recalls stories of these 'boogiemen' as none other then the Shadow Hunters, an elite group of hunter-killers that stem back to the Cataclysm Wars. The party collect themselves after a brutal fight, tending to their wounds and getting what rest they can. As the sun rises the next morning they prepare to move forward....
