Smoke clears Report
General Summary
Picking up as the smoke clears after the lizardfolk attack, the heroes reflect on the death of the fallen Rock McCock and Celery runs away in shock and did not return for the duration of the session. The local Laird Collin Forsythe approaches the party and thanks them for their assistance and inquires on their presence in the area. He offers them work in scouting out the lizardfolk attacks but acknowledges that others can pay them better, namely the church and the local Baron. The party chooses to help the Laird and in appreciation he offers to invite them to his table the next day to discuss their mission. The morning of, the party meets Lemon, a bereft man that lost his wife and children in the lizardfolk attacks and no holds a deep seated penchant against the lizardfolk. He walks around carrying a great club muttering to himself. Kevin attends a service at the local chapel to Pelor and he notices that worshippers must pay a price to even enter into the chapel lest the bouncer turns them away. The priest seems to have an odd obsession with "His Lady" and the notion that her grace must be payed back by means of coin and further devotion. He wears black vestments with golden hemmings. Furthermore the chapel has strange, star-like symbols decorate the chapel. After the service, the priest, with a foreign accent, offers Kevin work in the future. Lemon is allowed to join the party into the Laird's castle. As they enter the castle they notice that much of the decorative armor and weapons are missing from their ancient places. The Laird then sends them to the northern woods to try to scout out the movements of the lizardfolk. Overnight, Rooster and Kevin are bombarded by evil thoughts and nightmares, weakening them. Feeling this disorder they consult the barkeep, who then tells them to either see the church or maybe try to seek out the The Witch of the Westmoreland at the pond in the forest and toss golden rod in the forest. When they reach the forest they see large clearing at its borders. This clearing was made by large beasts and leads to the center of the forest. Asking the trees for assistance, Rooster starts to follow the trail to the pond and on the way he is confronted with talking crow. The crow asks him why he follows this path and Rooster tells him that he's searching for the witch of the Westmoreland. In response the Crow helps show him the path. At the pond they toss the golden rod in and the crow dives in and the witch appears from under the water. She has the torso of a beautiful black haired woman with the lower body of a black mare. She heals their curses but reminds them that this service is not free and that if they defy her she will take their souls. But she laughs and doesn't confirm this. She bestows a blessing upon the party members and sends them off. As the sun starts to set the party follows distance bright lights that beacon them to go deeper and deeper into the forest. On their way they come across a hooded lost, little girl who says that her parents from Gairloch left her.
