Session XXI - Quest for Power

General Summary

Having followed Perivis' request to investiate the Betor ruins, the party finds themselves deep underground. After defeating a number of duergar, the stand in front of three doors. Each of these door enchanted to deal a particular kind of damage to whoever steps through unaware. On the other side, the doors are barricaded preventing entry. Through the use of fire the group managed to burn away the door and barricades. Waiting for them on the other side would be one of the most challenging and lethal fights yet...   The party used there dust of disappearance to go invisible and get an advantage over there foes. A powerful Werewolf like figure, a dual wielding drow, and an assortment of duergar began attacking them. In a long brutal combat, with many close calls and blows leaving members near death, the party managed to kill everyone who opposed them. Before killing the drow, he found out he was hired by the wolf to help him acquire the core of the mechanical golem waiting lifelessly in the chamber. They also found a scroll indicating that he worked for a group known as the syndicate.   As the party below begins to rest after expending all they had, up above Arethyn had a run in with Persivis. He had arrived looking to check up on the group. Upon meeting Arethyn he offered a number of pieces of information. The main one being that Gareleth had invaded the Inner Territory, and that now Elezian is capturing all magic users so they may be trained for the war effort. The cease fire is now over... He also informed her that the Order of Celcreath has placed a fine bounty on all of there heads, even though the White Scale pardoned them... As a last bit of inormation, he hinted to Arethyn that one of the people she hunts may possibly be down below. Its partially why Persivis was curious about the mine. He then took his leave, saying that he would be in Riverway when they wish to speak.
