Saturday Report 25april2020

General Summary

Tonight's adventure finds the four heroes roughly a mile underground heading east through the caves along the Titan Highway seeing that it serves as a solid barrier even below ground. They covered almost 90 miles through the twisting caves and caverns.   Finally coming to a large cavern almost a thousand feet on a side. In the middle were seven mushrooms that the crowns started roughly 20' above the ground. In the center of the ring.. was what looked like a 40' square surrounded by canvas filled sandbags.   The four heroes move closer to the sandbags to investigate, hearing loud voices they slip into the shadows and listen. A few moments later a loud clomping is heard from inside the sandbags.. an Ogre steps up and places a 5'x15' block of stone covered in canvas into the tower structure they are building.   The heroes scatter around the opening, taking cover either behind the branches of the Celestial trees or behind the trunks of the giant mushrooms. The next time he brings a block up.. they supprise him.   Jake starts to Yoddle. The ogre looks around but cant see him bill sends a message into its mind to go eat the mushrooms. The ogre yells down the mushrooms are singing again. Work sounds from below continue. The first ogre heads to the nearest of the mushrooms. Thinking really carefully he reach out and grabs a handful of both the trunk.. and reach up to grab a handful of the crown as well.   The explorers keep singing or hiding.. ogre still unable to see them (rolled 2 and then 1 on the checks).   Bill contacts mind again and tells him to bring some to his friends below.   Ogre goes down, brings up another two sandbags quickly then goes and grabs an axe. he comes back out to the mushroom tree that he ate from, chops a big wedge out of the trunk and a large piece from the crown.. dropping the wedges down the hole they both hit the head of one of the ogres below. the first ogre lays down to watch the vision hes having, axe beside his head.   Down below the ogres eat.. The explorers wait and watch letting the mushrooms take effect. work below resumes and slows down. They decide the time is now, And attack. Hurting the Ogre he bellows out "The Pixies and Dragonflies are back!" work stops below. An Ogre falls, then a second, meanwhile the third cowers behind the tower wall. the fourth falls, followed shortly by the third. a giant appears armored in what looks like dwarven forged stone plate. They whittle away at the giant, trying hard to piece the alchemically hardened stone. in the battle mai'lia was almost cut in the half by the stone giants mining pick, not once but twice she was almost slain by the pick. As the explorers do battle the armor is chipped away revealing first that the giant had a beard of dwarven proportions. Finally the evil giant is slain!   The explorers take stock, and head towards the mushroom that granted fast healing before. it still does, they pile up the bodies.. and head into the ogre/giant tower. to see what they are excavating below.   Boy are they in for a surprise.  They found a huge perfectly round sphere. almost a quarter of a mile round.   In the heart of it they saw, seated upon a throne that stood almost a thousand feet tall was a figure of titanic proportions.   Strange growths were coming off its back and up into the ceiling.  It looks like he had wings that were removed with a fiery sword, blade of some sorts they presume was used.  Its torso was splayed open, seems the bone was harvested from his ribs, which then regenerated and was harvest again.   The figure was chained with the largest set of dimensional shackles they had ever seen or heard tell of, mouth was sealed with a ball gag and chains of cold forged iron wrapped over weighing it down in place.  Without even questioning they crawled inside and through a series of both athletics and acrobatic tricks to pick the lock and free the figure from the shackles.   The moment that it clicks, the figure shifts away to another plane of existence both the chains and muzzle clunk into the chair..  the growths that were on its back coming out of vertebrae detach and sink down to the chambers floor seeming to take root.   As they explore farther.. they find that the whole chamber was lined with those canvas bags, not filled with rocks but Bones, gathered and mined from this being for who knows how long..   behind the rows of bone.. they found glyphs written in angelic around an infernal name ("*@&&xfegs##@@!@) almost in a binding symbol.   It seems the Empyrium they freed was bound her by an angelic being a long long time again.   The explorers take a few small samples of the bones and dust, then head back up where they greeted by third strange sight.   above on the mushroom level a swirling portal of rainbow colors has formed.   Flying out of it are the largest dragonflies any of them have ever seen.. huge in size.. large enough that each of the six dragonflies carry a force of 16-20 Pixies.. all told the explorers think they saw around a hundred or two pixies..  Who told them that they serve an order dedicated to defending the fairy mushroom groves.

   How much of what they saw was real and how much was influenced from the fallen emperium spinal fungal spores.

Rewards Granted

Each of the ogres were armed with various weaponry. two large sized anvils serving as warhammers, 1 giant axe, 1 huge mining pick, 4 large bone saws, 1 huge set of chissles and bone carving tools. The giant wore a Belt of the Dwarven Beards.   The armor the ogres were wearing.. was hide.. elf hide boots, dwarf hide for the kilt and alot of gnome hides for their bracers. it was burned and offered a good burial.
