The Rescue of Ryfen Report

General Summary

Rescue of Ryfen

We pick up with the crew scouting out the basement that they know Ryfen is being held under. Rohka had already entered the basement and spotted six of the villains: Viktor, Narcissa, Gabriel, Esmond, Ferran, and, of course, Vayle. They were all sitting around a table conversing with no sound escaping from them. Now, Rohka has returned to the scouting party and reported his findings.   The crew then begin to debate on whether or not they can afford to raid the basement in an attempt to kill a few of their enemies or if it would be a better course of action to slip in and retrieve their friend undetected. They decided it would at least be prudent to send a few insect scouts into the basement to get a better lay of the land. When casting the spellto summon these scouts, the ambient wild magic wove itself into Nar's spell causing him to simultaneosly cast Cypher's Sneaky Silent Stabby Time! The spell named after the legendary assassin and theif Cypher causes the caster to turn perfectly invisible and silent for an entire hour! However, the crew decided that, despite the utility of the spell in their current situation, it would be too risky to rely entirely on invisibility.   After a few more hours of deliberation, allowing enough time for the insect scouts to return from their mission, the crew finally decided on a plan. First, the scouting party and the reserves would gather back up via teleportation. Eliza was chosen to cast the magic and the wild magic that wove itself into the spell caused all water to turn to wine and all alcohol to turn to water in her vicinity. A truly tragic loss. Next, Mosrael would use his summoning magic to bring forth an incarnation of Moth Man; however, the wild magic was not so kind to this spell. It caused a loud explosion of fire to burst forth from Mosrael's mouth causing the summon to fail and possibly alerting their enemies as the explosion echoed throughout the Village of the Echoing Soul Song. Despite this setback, it was decided that the plan must move forward and a second attempt was made to summon the Moth Man. Luckily, this casting of the spell did not draw forth the ire of the wild magic. The casting worked and wild magic merely caused Mosrael to speak his words into bubbles, much like Dima had happen to him in days prior.   Now that the shadowy form of Moth Man had been brought forth, he was to steer the flow of fate by recreating the effects of Gaseous Form on Rohka. As Moth Man's magic comes from his inherent ability to steer fate, the wild magic did not affect him and Rohka turned into a cloud of mist. Rohka used his new mist form to seep through the broken floorboards of the house and into the basement where Ryfen was being held. Upon entering the prison, Rohka realized that the enemies had heard their magical mishap a few moments ago!   In the room, were three new enemies that Rohka had not seen prior (a man with a feathered hat and rifle, Tarynxx; the partner of Viktor and member of the Shining Light, Lium Waiy; and a new elven man that nobody had seen before) as well as Vayle checking in on the situation. In the back of the room, pinned to the ground with metal spikes pushed through him was the elf that they were looking for, Ryfen.   Rohka immediately sprung into action transforming back to his regular form and dropping smoke bombs all around the room. Before his enemies could react, Rohka ripped Ryfen out of his prison, trusting that he would not die. Luckily, he was right and Ryfen survived the excruciating pain. As Rohka's enemies were rushing toward him, the world slowed and he took stock of what his options were. Vayle had his gun drawn and was beginning to take aim, Lium was drawing his gun, Tarynxx's sword was ready to strike, and the elven man was holding a sheathed sword that looked similar to the false Ryfen's sword. Rohka caught a glimpse of a small opening right by Vayle, through the smoke he had just dropped! He hefted Ryfen onto is shoulder and sprinted toward the hole in his enemies defenses. He hit the weakness perfectly, but it seemed Vayle had left it as a feint! The gun Vayle had been wielding started to move into position to stop Rohka in his tracks! Still seeing thing in slow motion, Rohka adjusted his trajectory ever so slightly to dodge the attempt! Now that he had made it past this threshold, he was free! Rohka rushed up the stairs, through the house, and out the front door!   Six members of those enemies teleported outside behind him, somehow avoiding the wild magic in the air! Vayle was the only one able to react to the sudden shift in scenery in time to fire off one shot. He took aim with his rifle and fired a single shot of dark light from its barrel. Rohka's senses allowed him to dodge most of the shot, but it wasn't enough. Both he and Ryfen were hit. Rohka pushed even harder, weaving his way through the streets and back to his friends in wait.   The two designated casters were ready to use their planar forks and immediately cast the spell. Aminah's spell was spoken perfectly, and the wild magic wove a gift into her spell: the ability to beseech the gods for a favorable outcome in a future scenario. Her group left the plane of Elysium behind. Dima's nerves got to him as he spoke the verbal components of his spell, disrupting the delicate balance of the echoing soul song temporarily! All sounds created from him became even more amplified that they already were! Undeterred, though, Dima summoned his inner strength and pushed on the spell he was casting forcing the wild magic to comply. It relented! And he, along with his group, also escaped the plane at the cost of the wild magic taking his head of hair.

Return to the Leviathan

Luckily, both groups entered the Material plan close to each other on the nearest shoreline. In the middle of the jungle, they did a quick debrief and a check up on Ryfen...   Unfortunatly, the beam of Dark Light that Vayle fired had caugh Ryfen and finished him off. All hope had not yet been lost, though! Aminah and Dima both had the power to reach into the afterlife and pull Ryfen back to this side, but they both would need a day to prepare the proper magics.   The crew that had gone to Elysium made their way back to the boat and greeted the rest of the crew that stayed behind. They delivered the news that, even though Ryfen had perished, his sould had not been destroyed and could be brought back! As Aminah was discussing the outcome of the mission with her co-second mates, Ferran and Andurill (Ryfen's sword) both mysteriously appeared on deck.   Though it was unexpected, the entire crew was ready to subdue Ferran and question him. Together with Niroch's aura and mind breaking magic, Dima bringing misfortune upon him, and stripping the magic items from Ferran's body the crew began to try and break Ferran down for an interrogation. Aminah started probing Ferran's mind, but he was proving too strong to break. One final attempt was made by combining Aminah and Moth Man's powers and Ferran's mind could not hold out any longer.

The Interrogation

Ferran was forced to submit to them and answer all of their questions per the spell that broke through. After a few questions, Ferran spotted a small loop hole in his prison. He would only begin answering questions once he knew what all of them were. The crew conspired and came up with an exhaustive list of their questions for the traitor.
"What is your issue with Ryfen?" - Crew
"My issue? My issue is that he is lesser obviously. Nothing but a low born." - Ferran

"How long has this plan been in motion" - Crew
"A few years at least" - Ferran

"Are there any other people that you know of on the ship?" - Crew
"Of course there are other people" - Ferran

"Who is the blonde guy-elf that had Ryfen's Sword?" - Crew
"Eladrin. My master" - Ferran

"How did you get past the first detect thoughts?" - Crew
"I didn't have those thoughts, obviously." - Ferran

"What was the goal of this mission?" - Crew
"Ryfen. You couldn't figure that out? - Ferran

"Why did you choose that place in particular?" - Crew
"We had control of the magic and the sound let us know you were there" - Ferran

"What does Vayle's eye all do?" - Crew
"No idea" - Ferran

"To the best of your abilities, what is everyone in that room's motives to hurt of aprehend the crew and who are they?" - Crew
"Eladrin and I should be obvious, but we're going to kill that low born. Esmond was fucked over by you guys. Vayle just does whatever Tristan wants and enjoys getting paid to torture. Viktor and Lium are some kind of religious nuts. Gabriel and Tarynxx hate you all, and I have no idea what Narcissa was on about" - Ferran

"What are all your abilities or spells?" - Crew
"I cast magic and swing a sword. The hell do you want from me?" - Ferran

"What all information have you passed on to Tristan?" - Crew
"I was only able to tell them about how Braylin's anti-scrying works" - Ferran

"Do you have anyone faster than Rohka?" - Crew
"Everybody that can teleport is faster than that monster" - Ferran

"Will you guys go after Daegar once this is over and, by extension, Rohka and Smuknust?" - Crew
"Obviously Tristan is coming for you all" - Ferran

"What were your plans for Ryfen?" - Crew
"He was bait, you dumb fucks" - Ferran

"Do you think Ryfen is cute" - Crew
"What a weird question. All lowborns are ugly" - Ferran

"To the best of your knowledge, what is everyone in that room's abilities, preferred fighting styles, weapons, and items?" - Crew
"Esmond, and Lium were casters, though they weren't as strong as Eladrin and myself seeing as they were less than even th low borns. Vayle and Tarynxx shot their guns. Viktor looked like he used that sword, and Gabriel was a metal bender. As far as that whore Narcissa went, I have no idea if she could even do anything.

Vayle obviously has magic guns and that ugly, fucked up face with that ugly fucked up eye in it.

Tarynxx and Viktor seemed to just swing their swords like barbarians while Tarynxx could also fire his gun.

Gabriel is polarian and seems to always be on edge. Never took his armor down.

Esmond could control the wild magic somehow and his staff seemed to be strangely powerful for some random lesser being to be carrying around.

Finally, there's Eladrin who is the most powerful wizard you'll ever see and myself, his apprentice who'll surpass him in magic while also wielding a sword." - Ferran
After finishing their questioning, the group knocked Ferran unconscious. Unsatisfied, however, the group pleaded with Eliza for her to perfom the magic where she enters a person's mind. Reluctantly, she agreed as long as they did it away from and out of sight of the rest of the crew.   After finishing the spell, she reported that Ferran's mind seemed to resemble a shattered mirror with the shards suspended in the air. She also reported that this is not a result of the mind breaking magic that the crew had cast on him before, and that something must have happened to his mind. After finishing her description, Eliza went off to lay down, and Ferran was stripped of his ability to cast magic and thrown into the brigg.   As the crew broke off to go take care of their various tasks, Trisha stopped Dima to ask why his hair wasn't glowing like normal. Dima was immediatly against Trisha causing an arguement and yelling to ensue. After a bit of arueing, Dima relented and took off his hat of disguise after wrapping his head in a shroud. The second mate did not seem satisfied with this, but did not push the issue further.   Nar, deciding that he wanted his animal friends, Thiccens and Bird brain, to gain sentience discussed the necessary steps with the ship's resident druid, Squeakers.   Wanting to set up a meeting with the Shadow Knight of Tabal, Dima asked Mosrael to send him a few messages. The Knight only sent short responses, however.

Orion's Return, Part Two

The night passed by, and, in the morning, the crew revived Ryfen and healed Ryfen. However, he was still weakened by the ordeal and a magical examination revealed that his casting ability had been weakened. He filled in a few more holes about the Sylkian and Fenguard clans of the Enclave. He also attempted to exlpain the hierarchy once more to the crew, but was met with the familiar jokes. Awakening sentience from Thiccens also began and Dima noticed his skull had started glowing with red smokey light.   Mosrael sent word to their captain, Orion, that Ryfen had been recovered and revived. Orion responded quickly that he would be there momentarily and to ask Braylin to remove the anti-scrying magics that she puts up.   Orion arrived back on deck sitting in his throne along with his grandfather, Daegar. The crew greeted them both and Orion apologized to Ryfen for what he had to go through, offering to remove the memories of the ordeal from his mind. Ryen refused this, saying that he would rather know that forget.   Learning about the state of Ferran's mind and the fact that he had memories removed long enough for him to infiltrate the crew, Orion decided he needed to check everyone for missing portions of their minds, but the only suspicious result was from Rylet. Orion tasked Braylin with finding more out about these two; restricting Cleo to not leave the ship for the time being.

常夫 "Thiccens" 小松

The final event of the day was the awakening of Thiccens. He had transformed from a mundane chicken to that of Tsuneo "Thiccens" Komatsu, master swordsman. He challenged Rohka to a duel and nearly defeated him, but Rohka was too quick and grabbed him before Komatsu could perform the Iaijutsu on him.
